The government has reiterated its commitment to telecom, media and entertainment sectors and is focusing on the convergence of all three to benefit the end-user. It was mentioned by Manish Tewari, minister of state, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India while addressing an audience at the 21st Convergence India 2013 in Delhi.
In his address, Tewari said, "The government of India sees the telecom evolution as a continuum, and it is not going to stop because of anything that has happened in this space in the past couple of years. We remain fully committed to bring further growth to the telecom, media and entertainment sectors."
Later during a conversation with journalists, he insisted on the convergence of the three (media, telecom and entertainment). He expressed hope that over the next few years the industry will be able to offer converged solutions.
The three sectors are going through a transitional phase as the industry is trying to woo customers through solutions on integrated platforms.
