Google Launches its Own Cultural App for Indian Users

Google has answered the people’s passion by unveiling a cultural app solely for this. The cultural app, titled – Google Cultural Institute App offers India's art lovers a glimpse in discovering famous works and artefacts from over 70 supported countries across the world.

Google has answered the people’s passion by unveiling a cultural app solely for this. The cultural app, titled – Google Cultural Institute App offers India's art lovers a glimpse in discovering famous works and artefacts from over 70 supported countries across the world.

"The Google Arts and Culture app helps art lovers take a walk through famous museums and artefacts from world over, offering them a rich immersive experience. We are sure people want to see some of the artworks in real life too and the Google Arts & Culture app is here to help”, said Duncan Osborn, the product manager, Google Cultural Institute.

Sebastien Marotte, the Google Apps for Work vice president said – “India is the fastest-growing market with strongest demand for apps for Google. About two million businesses worldwide are using Google's enterprise products and 4500 companies were signing up for the service every day. Hence, we decided to develop an app solely for the users in India, for their love in art and history”.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

Google Cardboard, a virtual reality platform, that gives access through a number of different types of apps and games, gives users the golden opportunity to undertake a virtual tour of the Sanskriti Museum, which houses one of the largest collections of Indian art and craft. It is located in Delhi and was commissioned into existence in 1978.

The users can also subscribe to the new Google Arts and Culture YouTube channel platform, where they can find original content dedicated to culture hosted by the YouTube community instantly. Also, they can go through different works of art based on the specified time period mentioned. They can also browse the related content based on colours.

Additionally, along with zooming of the pictures in order to view the artworks and their details, they can also save them, and store them into the Collections option for easy viewing and sharing. The app is currently available for both Android and iOS and can be downloaded from Google Play or App Store.

The platform will also display the opening times of any museum, monument and locations to find out for sightseeing on that day. The app also adds a feature named – ‘Art Recognizer Feature’, which will help users recognize paintings and find online information about it by scanning paintings by using the phone camera.

You can also search anything for recent information such as the Nalanda University in Bihar, bagging the new title of the UNESCO World Heritage Site to the recent modern paintings of Abanindranath Tagore, a very renowned painter, which was recently unveiled and auctioned to a private museum company in the UK and so on. Download this creative and intimating app and turn the clock back to the medieval times to dive into the fascinating world of art and history.
