Google Bard Launched in UK and US, and It Has Two Significant Advantages Over ChatGPT

Google Bard is being made available starting from US and UK soon. The development was announced by Sundar Pichai, CEO, Google and Alphabet. “We're expanding access to Bard in US + UK with more countries ahead, it's an early experiment that lets you collaborate with generative AI. Hope Bard sparks more creativity and curiosity, and will get better with feedback,” said Pichai.

Bard has been powered by a research large language model (LLM), which is specifically a lightweight and optimized version of LaMDA, and the company says that the platform will be updated with newer and more capable models overtime. “While LLMs are an exciting technology, they’re not without their faults. For instance, because they learn from a wide range of information that reflects real-world biases and stereotypes, those sometimes show up in their outputs. And they can provide inaccurate, misleading or false information while presenting it confidently,” adds Pichai in the blog.

How Does Google Bard Display Responses?

Unlike ChatGPT, Bard will be a complementary experience to Google Search. When Bard is given a prompt, it generates a response by selecting, one word at a time, from words that are likely to come next. “Picking the most probable choice every time wouldn’t lead to very creative responses, so there’s some flexibility factored in. We continue to see that the more people use them, the better LLMs get at predicting what responses might be helpful,” mentions Pichai.

How is Google Bard Better than ChatGPT?

A number of SEO experts who have been able to gain access to Bard have highlighted the following two benefits that the platform offers when compared to ChatGPT:

• Google Bard is capable of displaying results from current events as opposed to ChatGPT that can show results up to only the year 2021.
• Google Bard also provides links under the summary of results unlike ChatGPT, thus giving a sigh of relief to publishers.

Google Bard has been designed in manner that users can easily visit Search to check its responses or explore sources across the web, says Pichai. “Bard can tap into Google’s understanding of high-quality information. Where appropriate, Bard tries to provide links to resources that may provide more information about a topic.  In most cases, you can also see a suggested Google search that you can use to check the response.
