In a move to attract more young investors to the Indian capital markets, Geojit BNP Paribas has launched ‘Flip Social', India's first stock trading application suite for Facebook.
The launch saw Ashish Kumar Chauhan, MD and CEO of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), punching the first trade order in the presence of A P Kurian, chairman, Geojit BNP Paribas, A Balakrishnan, MD of Geojit Technologies, and other prominent guests during an event held at the International Convention Hall, BSE, Mumbai.
The application suite which resides in Facebook includes investment tutorials, a stock market game that will give players a virtual real-time experience of trading in the Indian stock markets, and a trading application.
Geojit BNP Paribas' new application suite offers a mix of education and fun as it allows visitors to play stock games, access investment tutorials, and other multimedia contents. It also allows users to carry out transactions in BSE using their access credentials. The application was developed by Geojit Technologies, which is a subsidiary of Geojit BNP Paribas.
In recognition of the educational potential of Geojit BNP Paribas' Facebook trading game, ‘Arthashastra', on the last trading day of each week, BSE will sponsor prizes for those who have made the highest notional profit during the week.
A Balakrishnan said, "With Flip Social, Facebook users will now be able to trade on BSE and at the same time be in touch with their friends without leaving their Facebook page. While our stock market game is interesting and educational, I believe that by playing our stock market game, users will be able to trade with confidence in real life too."
Ashish kumar Chauhan said, "I would like to congratulate Geojit BNP Paribas for launching such an important facebook application, which I believe is taking place for the first time in the world. BSE is proud to associate with such a path-breaking initiative from Geojit which will help connect Indian youth with Indian capital markets in a meaningful and sustainable way''.
