Online registrations for GATE 2021 examinations can be filled on the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) starting from 14 September up to 30 September 2020. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) can be taken by candidates currently studying in the third or higher years of any undergraduate degree program, and also by those who have already completed any government-approved degree program in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, and arts.
Interested candidates are required to fill up the online registration form on GOAPS, and only one application form needs to be filled even if the candidate is appearing for two papers. GATE 2021 scores will be valid for three years, and there is no age limit to appear for the examinations. All applications will be submitted online, and there is no hard copy that needs to be sent.
Documents Required for GATE 2021 Online Applications
Candidates are advised to keep the required documents in the prescribed format ready for the online registration process, and documents uploaded in the incorrect format may lead to disqualification. A good quality photograph of 3.5 cm width × 4.5 cm height, wherein the candidate’s face covers 60 to 70 percent of the photograph is required. The photograph must be recent with white background, and the candidate’s face must be clear without, mask, sunglasses, shadow effect, and so on. The maximum filesize for a photo can be 480×640 in pixels and the minimum pixel resolution 240x320 and between 5 kB and 200 kB.
A clear signature in JPEG or JPG format of size with aspect ratio height:width = 1.0 needs to be uploaded as well. The signature must be in black or dark blue ink. The signature can be between 80×280 and 160×560 in pixels, and the file size should be between 5 kB and 200 kB.
Online Application Fee
There is a non-refundable application fee of Rs 750 that needs to be paid online. Suppose a candidate decides to undertake two examinations, the fees payable will be twice of that mentioned for a single paper. Candidates are advised to go through the official GATE 2021 website before filling the applications.
