GATE 2020: Who is eligible to apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering?

Registrations for GATE 2020, which will be conducted by IIT Delhi, is all set to begin in a few days and students who wish to seek admission or require financial assistance in higher courses offered by MHRD or other government bodies can apply online for the same. A valid GATE score in relevant fields is also often required for the recruitment of engineers into prestigious institutions such as Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

GATE 2020 will be conducted by 7 IITs across the country as well as by IISc Bangalore and the examination will be purely a Computer Based Test (CBT). The scores obtained will be valid for three years from the date of declaration of results. GATE 2020 will be conducted for 25 paper or subjects and will be distributed over 1, 2, 8 and 9 February 2020.

Who can Apply for GATE 2020?

Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree course in engineering or technology of 4 years after 10 plus 2 or three years after BSc or diploma in engineering or technology; Bachelor’s degree holders in architecture (5 years) or naval architecture (4 years); Bachelor’s degree holders of four year programme in science (BS); Master’s degree holders in any branch of science, mathematics, statistics, computer applications and so on; Candidates with 4 years or 5 years integrated master’s degree or dual degree in engineering or technology as well as those with qualifications UPSC or AICTE and so on equivalent to graduation can appear for GATE 2020. Even candidates in their final year can apply.

How to Apply for GATE 2020?

Interested and eligible candidates need to apply for GATE 2020 online from 3 September 2019 onwards. The closing date of online application is 24 September 2019. An online application fee of Rs 1500 for Indian students is also required to be paid; However, the fee is Rs 750 for SC, ST, PwD, and female candidates. Students are advised to go through the GATE 2020 notification available on the IIT Delhi website in detail before applying for the exam.
