HDIL to Build Cybercity in Kochi



The Housing Development and Infrastructure (HDIL) will invest as much as Rs
2,000 crore in a new IT park near Kochi in Kerala. The project, to be called

HDIL Cybercity will come up at Kalamassery on 70 acres of land. HDIL top

executives have made presentations to the Kerala government on the proposed

project and are awaiting clearance.

SRIT forms HealthCare JV in China



Sobha Renaissance Information Technology (SRIT) has announced the setting up of
a joint venture (JV) company in China called Sunpa Sobha Software. Headquartered

in Kunming, Sunpa Sobha Software will have operating branches in Beijing,

Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.

TN Announces its First Fab in Chennai



Moser Baer announces Rs 2,000 crore SPV fab near Chennai. In a bid to take
the lead step in building a semiconductor ecosystem within few days after the

final policy was announced, Tamil Nadu has announced the first fab near Chennai.

The state will also come out with a comprehensive policy to attract investments.

Webdunia.com in Five More Languages



Webdunia.com, multi-language Internet portal, has launched portals in five
additional languagesBengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, and Punjabi. This

takes the total number of language portals to nine. The company plans to invest

over Rs 25 crore in the next three years on brand building and mass media

advertising.

TCS Automates Bahrain LMRA



Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced that it has executed an engagement for
the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), an autonomous organization

established by Kingdom of Bahrain to restructure Bahrains labour market

regulations through strategic reforms. TCS has developed and continues to

support and enhance IT systems for the LMRA.

ZTE Plans Manufacturing Unit in India



China-based ZTE is set to establish a manufacturing plant in India, its
second biggest market after China. The company is in talks with various state

governments to set up its base in India. Disclosing this to the media, He Shiyou,

president, Handset division and senior VP of ZTE said the company plans to

produce 30 mn handsets this year.

SunTec Logs on to Middle East Hub



Dubai has been picked by Keralas software major SunTec Business Solutions

hub for all its activities in the Middle East. The Dubai office has been set up

to primarily concentrate on the company sales endeavor in the United Arab

Emirate, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria and also

to give a fillip to the dynamic pricing solution vendors sales efforts aimed

at the communications, media, and entertainment (CME) and BFSI service

providers.

Newgens New Center



Newgen Software has expanded its development capability by moving its
development center in Chennai into a new facility located at SIPCOT IT Park, in

South Chennai. The new facility has a seating capacity for 300 people. Newgen

plans to add more capacity up to 2,000 people in the coming years on this

four-acre campus.

ThinkSoft Expands



ThinkSoft Global Services is targeting $100 mn in revenues in the next 2-3
years, and plans to go public. According to the company estimates, the BFSI

testing market in India is expected to grow four-fold from the current $400 mn.

The Chennai-based firm has posted an increase in revenue by 60% in financial

year 06, and a CAGR of 37% over the last six years.

Wipro Enters Egypt



The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) of Egypt
has announced that Wipro will be setting up a global development center in Smart

Village in Egypt. This development center, besides strengthening Wipros

presence in the region, will also give a thrust to its global delivery model. It

would provide software development, integration and consulting services from

this center.

Virinchis New Center



Virinchi Technologies, software products and solutions company, has announced
the opening of its third development facility in Secunderabad. The new facility

can accommodate 175 knowledge workers and with this addition the total seating

capacity of Virinchi increases to 450 knowledge workers. The new facility will

primarily focus on new product development and customer support operations for

its micro-lending suite of financial services products.
