GlobalLogic Plans Multiple Centers
GlobalLogic plans to invest around $50 mn in India over the next two years
to set up development centers at multiple locations, including Chennai,
Hyderabad and Pune. It had developed a joint venture model of partnering with
emerging software companies to help them create innovative products and also to
develop a dedicated global delivery center.
iGate to Set Up Verification Center
iGate Global Solutions has announced plans to set up an independent Verification
and Validation Center of Excellence at its software development facility in
Whitefield, near Bangalore. The center would focus on test process consulting,
test automation, performance testing and functional testing services for
enterprises and product companies.
Moser Baer Forays into Entertainment
Moser Baer has launched a new initiative in content distribution, marking
its entry into the entertainment industry through Indian home video market. The
company will release video content on DVD and Video CD formats using its
proprietary and patented technology, which enhances quality and reduces cost.
SAP Opens Retail CoE
SAP India has announced the opening of its center of excellence (CoE) for
retail out of its Mumbai facility. The current partners for SAP Retail CoE
include Sun Microsystems as the infrastructure partner, Seal Infotech as the
channel partner and e-solutions for the integrated POS application.
Ventech to Expand Chennai Center
Ventech Solutions plans to expand its operations in Siruseri IT Park in Chennai
with a fully operational R&D center by June 2007. The company plans to
invest Rs 40 crore to develop this product and solutions dedicated center and
increase its total manpower to 1000 by 2008.
SerWizSol Plans Vernacular BPOs
SerWizSol plans to expand in India by establishing vernacular BPOs targeting the
domestic potential. It aims to invest close to Rs 10-15 crore to establish call
centers in most state capitals as well as in secondary cities like Guwahati,
Jaipur, Bhopal, Coimbatore, Gulbarga, Vellore and Chitoor. The Tata group BPO
company also plans to double its headcount to 8,000 and expand its verticals to
media and communications space.
Hexaware to Double Headcount
Hexaware Technologies plans to double its headcount in two years and set up
three campuses-two in Maharashtra and one in Tamil Nadu- in 2007. The
headcount will touch 10,000 over the next two and half years. The first phase of
Chennai campus will be ready by August 2007, informed Atul Nishar, CMD, Hexaware.
Mastek's Chennai ODC
Mastek plans to set up an offshore development center at the Mahindra Industrial
park in the Chennai suburbs. The company proposes to invest Rs 200-250 crore in
the next five years at the center according to its chief financial officer
Jamshed.
SGS to Up Headcount
Sutherland Global Services (SGS) plans to add around 7,000 employees
globally next year and half of the employee addition would happen in India where
it has over 8,000 employees in six facilities in Chennai and one in Mumbai.
Sutherland expanded its presence to a second city in the Philippines with the
setting up of operations in Clark.
SCEL to Expand
Sahara Computers and Electronics (SCEL) plans to set up two manufacturing
facilities in Roorkee and Noida with a capacity to manufacture 3,000 and 2,000
units of computer products respectively per day. Roorkee plant and Noida plant
are expected to be operational by the middle and end of the next year.
Sai Forays into IT Retail
Sai Infosystems has launched a retail mall for IT products under the brand name
e-mall in Gujarat. The company plans to launch 16 such e-malls across India over
the next few months. The company also plans to enter the gaming business with
the brand e-fun and launch over 250 e-funs in the same cities as e-mall.
AIG's Office in Chennai
AIG Systems has set up its corporate office and expanded development center at a
new facility in Chennai. The new facility is spread over 45,000 sq ft and could
accommodate 500 professionals.
