IIT Madras to Host ‘IInvenTiv 2025,’ India’s largest R&D fair

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is set to host ‘IInvenTiv 2025,’ India’s largest research and development fair, on February 28 and March 1, 2025. The event will showcase innovations from the country’s leading academic institutions, including IITs, NITs, IISc, and IISERs, under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The fair will feature over 185 shortlisted research projects, with more entries expected, offering a platform for industry-academia collaboration. The initiative aims to facilitate the commercialization of research through technology transfer, licensing, and industry partnerships.

Addressing the Press Conference, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said, “Viksit Bharat 2047 shall undoubtedly be a Startup and Product Nation. IInvenTiv is a platform for Higher education institutions to showcase their translational research and startups they had incubated to the market for possible technology transfers and collaboration.”

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is scheduled to inaugurate the event, which will include an exhibition of innovations, plenary talks, and panel discussions on key technological themes.

A ‘Chintan Shivir’ brainstorming session will also be organized, covering areas such as aviation, defense, healthcare engineering, sustainability, AI/ML technologies, smart cities, and advanced manufacturing.

IInvenTiv, which began in 2022 at IIT Delhi, has since expanded its scope. The previous edition was held at IIT Hyderabad in 2024. The 2025 edition at IIT Madras seeks to further strengthen ties between academia and industry, fostering advancements in India’s research ecosystem.
