Tensor is powered by the world's most vertically integrated Level 4 autonomy stack. Its sensor suite includes 37 cameras, 5 lidars, 11 radars, 22 microphones, 10 ultrasonic sensors, 3 IMUs, GNSS, 16 collision detectors, 8 water-level detectors, 4 tire-pressure sensors, 1 smoke detector, and triple-channel 5G. This extraordinary level of hardware and software vertical integration sets a new benchmark in automotive sensing.

Driving it all is Tensor's advanced AI, built on the Tensor Foundation Model. Unlike traditional rule-based systems, it is entirely data-driven—learning perception, prediction, and planning from vast real-world and simulated datasets.

Based on Transformer architecture and advanced sensor fusion, it navigates challenging conditions—night, glare, fog, rain—with confidence. Tensor's dual-system AI mirrors human cognition: System 1 delivers fast, reflexive responses through imitation learning from expert drivers, while System 2 uses a sophisticated multimodal Visual Language Model to reason through rare and complex edge cases. Cabin reimagined for freedom
This "Dual Mode" design addresses a critical evolution in autonomous vehicle interiors. While high-level automation provides a transformative user experience, the traditional steering wheel often remains a static obstacle that limits passenger comfort and cabin flexibility. By clearing the driver’s area entirely during autonomous mode, we are reimagining the cabin as a multifunctional space that prioritizes personal freedom.

As Founder and CEO Dr. Jay Xiao noted, this approach combines the best of both worlds, giving customers the liberty to drive when they want and be driven when they don’t.

Adaptive safety without compromise
Safety remains our core priority, even as we redefine the interior landscape. The Tensor Robocar features an intelligent, adaptive airbag system that adjusts based on the chosen driving mode.

Autonomous mode: When the steering wheel is retracted, a passenger airbag integrated into the instrument panel is enabled.

Manual mode: During human-led driving, the system utilizes the airbag located within the steering wheel. Both configurations provide an equally high level of protection, ensuring peace of mind regardless of who or what is in control.
