Kochadai Technologies, an emerging deep-tech startup housed within the IIT Madras Research Park ecosystem, announced the launch of MakeGPT — a revolutionary platform that enables anyone, regardless of technical background, to create sophisticated Internet of Things (IoT) systems simply by using natural language prompts.
The product was officially unveiled by Dr. P. Thiaga Rajan (PTR), Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu, during the flagship conference “ZeroToOne: GenAI Product Day.” The event featured over 500 participants and highlighted how generative AI is transforming product development and hardware innovation.
Unlike traditional IoT development that requires years of engineering training, MakeGPT allows users to describe their project ideas in plain language and automatically generates complete working IoT solutions.
The platform introduces an “Inverted Bloom’s Taxonomy” educational approach: learners start by creating complex products, then explore underlying technical principles, accelerating engagement and mastery.
Key features of the platform include:
* Natural Language-to-Hardware Interface for conversational project creation
* Automated System Generation with component selection
* Real-Time Design Iteration through dialogue-based design refinement
* Educational Insight Mode to explain component functionality in context.
"Imagine telling an AI 'Create a soil moisture monitoring system that sends alerts to my phone when plants need water' and receiving a complete prototype with component lists, firmware code, and assembly instructions," said Naveena Swamy, Founder, Kochadai Technology Solutions. "That's the reality MakeGPT delivers today. We're democratizing hardware innovation for everyone."
A part of the IITMRP ecosystem, MakeGPT reflects the kind of inclusive, scalable innovation the institution seeks to champion. By removing barriers to participation, the platform empowers future deep-tech entrepreneurs and advances India’s vision of a technology-driven economy for Viksit Bharat.
The day-long summit featured panel discussions with industry stalwarts, live student project showcases, and demonstrations of MakeGPT’s AI interface -- signalling a major push to empower innovators across India’s diverse regions.
With MakeGPT, Kochadai Technologies aims to revolutionize prototype development, making it intuitive, affordable and accessible, driving India’s leadership in AI-powered deep-tech innovation.
