Calcom is setting new benchmarks in energy-efficient lighting and electronics, operating a fully integrated 13,000 sq. m factory located in Greater Noida, Delhi. Driven by ESG principles, Calcom Vision is advancing green manufacturing through solar lighting and energy-saving products, such as BLDC fans. With IoT-enabled smart lighting and ongoing research and development, Calcom is leading in next-generation technology.
The company is strategically expanding globally and is focused on delivering energy-efficient solutions while supporting India’s Make in India initiative.
Abhishek Malik, Executive Director, Calcom Vision Ltd, tells us more. Excerpts from an interview:
DQ: How is Calcom redefining modern homes with advanced LED and IoT-enabled lighting solutions?
Abhishek Malik: Calcom Vision, with over 48 years of excellence in electronics manufacturing, has established itself as a trusted partner to leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) across various industries. Our robust business model integrates ODM and EMS, supported by both backward and forward integration. We specialize in the production of advanced products that enhance productivity through automation, while offering energy efficiency and intelligent control for seamless user experiences.
Our diverse product range includes smart home lighting systems, IoT-powered indoor and outdoor LED lighting, and transforming spaces with accessible, sustainable, and smart lighting solutions. By focusing on automation and integration, we continue to enhance our capacities and set new benchmarks in the industry, redefining the future of modern homes and businesses.
Recently, we expanded our client portfolio by onboarding HPL Electric & Power Ltd, to manufacture various ranges of LED lightning products. This expansion further solidifies our position as a leading EMS and ODM provider in the market.
DQ: Can you elaborate on Calcom’s fully integrated 15,000 sq.m. facility for manufacturing products?
Abhishek Malik: Calcom's state-of-the-art 15,000 sq.m. facility in Greater Noida serves as the cornerstone of our manufacturing excellence. This fully integrated plant oversees the entire production lifecycle, from design and development to assembly and packaging, ensuring precision and superior quality at every stage.
With advanced backward integration capabilities, in-house plastic moulding, in-house plastic extrusion, powder coating, and pressure die casting, that are supported by our modern tool room, we provide a comprehensive solution for a diverse range of products.
Our portfolio includes a wide variety of indoor and outdoor LED products, Solar lighting solutions, BLDC fans, and electronic drivers and EV chargers. Key indoor lighting offerings feature LED bulbs, battens, ceiling lights, panels, and inverter bulbs.
For outdoor applications, we supply streetlights, floodlights, high bay lights, well glass lights, and solar-powered lighting systems. Additionally, we specialize in IoT-enabled smart lighting, energy-efficient BLDC fans, and advanced LED drivers.
To meet the growing global demand for sustainable, energy-efficient solutions, we are expanding our facility to 30,000 sq.m. This expansion will further strengthen our leadership in the industry, and enable us to continue delivering cutting-edge, environmentally-friendly products.
DQ: Can you elaborate on the JV with Korea’s Taehwa Enterprise to produce 100,000 energy-efficient fans annually?
Abhishek Malik: Our joint venture with Korea’s Taehwa Enterprise marks a significant milestone in advancing energy-efficient appliances in India. Taehwa, a global leader with a presence in 12 countries, brings unparalleled expertise and cutting-edge innovation to this collaboration.
Together, we have set up a manufacturing capacity of 100,000 brushless DC (BLDC) fans annually, which consume 50-60% less energy compared to traditional fans. This partnership reflects our strong commitment to sustainability and supports government initiatives such as Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, which enhance localization capabilities and reduce dependency on imports.
By combining Taehwa’s global innovation with Calcom’s local manufacturing expertise, we are driving the development of energy-efficient solutions that meet both national and global standards. This collaboration not only contributes to energy conservation but also strengthens India’s self-reliance in the industry.
DQ: How is Calcom’s in-house design expertise reshaping the market through its ODM and EMS leadership?

Our robust in-house facilities, including a Tool Room for Plastic Injection Moulds, a well-equipped Approbation Lab, and three Manual Insertion Lines, support seamless production. DQ: How are you scaling up to meet global demand for energy-efficient solutions?
Abhishek Malik: Our 15,000 sq.m. facility in Greater Noida is strategically well designed to meet the global demand for energy-efficient solutions. It is equipped for the precision manufacturing of a wide range of products, including LED lighting, BLDC fans, and solar lighting solutions, ensuring consistent quality and reliability.
In addition to serving the domestic market, our exports to the U.S. and other high-growth regions highlight our commitment to global expansion. By investing in automation, backward integration, and cutting-edge R&D capabilities, we are not only enhancing productivity but also developing innovative, sustainable solutions tailored to both domestic and international markets. This approach enables us to stay at the forefront of the industry while meeting the evolving needs of our global clientele.

DQ: How are Calcom’s BLDC fans and solar lighting driving a greener future?
Abhishek Malik: Our BLDC fans and solar lighting products represent a significant step toward a sustainable future. Our energy-efficient BLDC fans consume much less energy compared to traditional fans, supporting government initiatives aimed at reducing energy demand.
Similarly, our solar lighting products harness renewable energy, providing off-grid lighting solutions for both rural and urban areas. These innovations not only contribute to energy conservation but also help lower carbon footprints, aligning with our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
We are fully aligned with the Government's vision of transforming the Energy landscape to meet the growing demands of the country. By switching to renewable sources of energy and reducing our energy requirements, Calcom is geared towards a Greener, Sustainable future.
DQ: How is Calcom integrating ESG principles to transform the industry?
Abhishek Malik: Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles are at the core of Calcom’s vision for sustainable growth. We prioritize energy-efficient products, waste reduction, and the use of renewable energy to minimize our environmental footprint. We operate a Green Campus.
We have over 500 trees in and around our factory to offset our carbon footprint. Our business is powered by a 525 KW Rooftop solar plant that drastically reduces our dependence on the grid. We have also swapped all fans with our homegrown BLDC technology to reduce our electricity load.
Initiatives such as rain water harvesting, and use of PNG in case of power failures have been very successful and a positive step towards environmentally friendly practices. We are an ISO 14001:2015 certified company.
By aligning our efforts with India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, we are further supporting the transition to green and sustainable manufacturing, thereby enhancing both environmental stewardship and economic impact.
