Government of Gujarat’s Department of Science & Technology and the Gujarat State Electronics Mission successfully inaugurated the Gujarat SemiConnect 2026 event.
Ashok Chandak, President IESA and SEMI India, stated: “India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) and SEMI India congratulates the Government of Gujarat’s Department of Science & Technology and the Gujarat State Electronics Mission on the successful inauguration of Gujarat SemiConnect.
"\We commend the visionary leadership of the Government of Gujarat and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY)/India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) for creating a progressive policy environment that is accelerating the development of a world-class semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem in the state and across India.
"Gujarat’s forward-looking policies — including the dedicated Semiconductor Policy 2022-27, robust fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, streamlined approvals, and strategic focus on establishing ‘Semicon City’ at Dholera, and advanced facilities at Sanand — have significantly de-risked investments and expanded opportunities beyond fabs to include OSAT/ATMP, components, PCB, design, and supply-chain partners.
"These efforts complement national initiatives by MeitY and the ISM that provide critical support for fabs, packaging, testing, design, and allied infrastructure.
"IESA and SEMI India have been actively associated with Gujarat SemiConnect over the last couple of years, fostering collaboration across industry, government, and institutional stakeholders.
"At the inaugural event, four IESA member companies, along with the SEMI leadership, delivered keynote addresses, reflecting the deep engagement of our ecosystem. In addition, four MOUs involving IESA/SEMI member companies were signed, and throughout the conference day many IESA /SEMI member leaders and companies participated in high-impact panel discussions and exhibition."
ISM 2.0 priorities
During his speech, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted that the priorities for ISM 2.0 would be design and deep-tech startups, the equipment and materials ecosystem and talent development.
Overall, the IESA member companies continue to actively work with investors and government partners to drive execution on the ground. The four anchor investor projects are progressing well, illustrating both investor confidence and Gujarat’s emergence as a hub for semiconductor manufacturing, associated supply chain and services.
Chandak continued: "In addition, India’s semiconductor strength will rise manifold with Micron’s memory manufacturing plant commercial production and the upcoming OSAT facilities opening this year. This is not just the launch of a plant and MoUs — it signals India’s emergence as a credible and trusted global semiconductor manufacturing hub. We are proud to contribute to this transformational journey in building India’s semiconductor design led manufacturing momentum.”
Speaking at the Gujarat Semiconnect event, Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI, the global Industry body, said: “The inauguration of Micron’s semiconductor assembly and test facility in Gujarat marks a major milestone for the global semiconductor and memory industry.

"What was announced just two years ago has now become a commercial reality — a testament to strong collaboration between Micron and the Government of India. As demand accelerates for advanced memory, including high bandwidth memory that powers AI innovation, this facility strengthens global supply chain resilience, while advancing India’s growing role in the semiconductor ecosystem.
"SEMI congratulates Micron and Government of India, and Government of Gujarat, India on this significant achievement along with several MOU’s signed during the Gujarat Semiconnect event.”
