A new round of layoffs has begun at Meta (previously Facebook), and employees with technical expertise are receiving pink slips from worldwide. Several employees of the company posted their ordeal on LinkedIn, claiming they had been asked to go. The job layoffs have impacted people in verticals including user experience, software engineering, graphics programming, and other roles.
The second round of layoffs was also verified to CNBC by a Meta representative. One of the fired employees claimed that on Wednesday, layoffs were completed in the teams that deal with the products. Meta also intends to provide pink slips to employees who work in positions with a business focus, such as finance, legal, and HR.
Will IT Teams be affected too with the Layoffs at Meta?
Furthermore, Meta's most recent round of layoffs has also impacted those who work as gameplay programmers. These individuals are involved in the company's virtual and augmented reality products. One dismissed worker added that the IT teams that won't be affected in April might be in May. A Meta representative told CNBC that the cuts had already begun. According to sources, the most recent round of layoffs at the company included staff at the Instagram office in London, who may be let go or transferred.
How many employees will be let go in the most recent round of layoffs for April is still being determined. According to estimates, the corporation is laying off 4,000 more employees. However, there currently needs to be formal information available. Meta plans to let go of at least 4,000 highly qualified workers this week. The new layoffs occurred only four months after Meta fired 11,000 workers, or 13% of its staff, in November last year.
CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg indicated in March that 10,000 jobs would be eliminated in the following months. Additionally, Meta will reveal newly reorganised management and team structures.
