Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has invited applications from meritorious students for INSPIRE scholarship under Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE 2020). A total of 10,000 scholarships are provided every year under SHE by DST. The selected candidates will be awarded a scholarship of Rs 60,000 to 80,000 annually for a maximum period of five years.

Who can Apply for the INSPIRE Scholarship for Higher Education by DST?

Applicants who are between 17 and 22 years of age and have passed class 12 examinations in the year 2020 from various recognized Indian State and Central Boards, and who are now enrolled in regular courses in natural or basic sciences of a duration of three years such as BSc, BSc Honours, four years BS and five years integrated MSc or MS programs in any College, University or Institutions in India recognised by UGC can apply for the scholarship.

Candidates will be selected for the scholarship based on their performance in board examinations within the cut-off threshold for State or Central Board Examination in the year 2020 in class 12, and/or performance in any of the specified competitive examinations such as JEE Mains and Advanced, NEET. Furthermore, recipients of various scholarships and medals will also be considered for SHE 2020. The continuation of the scholarship for selected candidates is based on their performance in the examinations conducted and certified by the institution in which they are undertaking their degree.

Subjects for which DST will Provide INSPIRE Scholarship for Higher Education 2020

Candidates doing their first year of BSc, BSc Honours, BS, integrated MSc or MS programs in the following subjects can apply for the scholarship: Physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, statistics, geology, astrophysics, astronomy, electronics, botany, zoology, biochemistry, anthropology, microbiology, geophysics, geochemistry, atmospheric, sciences and oceanic sciences.

Interested candidates who have the required cut-off marks and eligibility can apply online on the official INSPIRE website before 31 December 2020. Applicants will need to upload photograph and other relevant documents while submitting the online application.
