The Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) functional under the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is inviting applications from eligible candidates for Junior Research Fellowships for an initial period of two years which can be extendable as per rules. This announcement was made on 21st November 2023 aiming to foster innovation, modernize research capabilities, and attract young minds to the field of science and technology.

The fellowship offers a promising monthly stipend of Rs.37000/- along with a house rent allowance, as admissible per the rules. Aspirants who are interested and eligible are encouraged to participate in the walk-in interview at NSTL, Visakhapatnam.

What is the application process?

The candidates who are interested in this prestigious fellowship are invited to participate in walk-in interviews at NSTL, Visakhapatnam. The interviews are scheduled to be held on specific dates, with the first round for JRF in Marine Engg/Elec/EEE/ECE taking place on November 21, 2023. The subsequent round for JRF in Mech. Engg./Mathematics/Physics is set for December 23, 2023.

The application process requires candidates to bring essential documents, including educational certificates, birth certificates, valid NET/GATE scorecards, and a valid ID card. The interview process may also include a written test consisting of objective-type multiple-choice questions to shortlist candidates for further evaluation.

NSTL has set an upper age limit of 28 years as of the Interview date, with relaxations for SC, ST, and OBC candidates as per government orders. Candidates currently employed in public sector undertakings or autonomous bodies are expected to provide a “No Objection Certificate” during the interview.

It has to be noted that the fellowship does not guarantee absorption in DRDO emphasizing the program’s focus on providing a platform for skill development and research exposure.
