DRDO Invites Applications for a Certificate Online Course on Cybersecurity: Check Details

DRDO is currently accepting online applications for a certificate online course on cybersecurity, for which graduates and professionals can apply. The course is being offered through the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), a deemed university and an autonomous organisation funded by the Department of Defence Research and Development (DRDO).

DIAT is also offering an online course in artificial intelligence, and for both courses, candidates will have to register for the entrance exam and qualify for the online exam. The syllabus of the course has been designed by a team of academicians, DRDO experts and cybersecurity advisors, and the sessions include theory as well as hands-on practice sessions for the topics. Upon successfully completing the course, participants will be awarded a certificate that says DIAT Certified Information Assurance Professional.

Who can Take the DRDO DIAT Online Course in Cybersecurity

The course has been formulated to benefit graduates from any discipline aiming for a successful career in information security, IT professionals who wish to enhance their information assurance capabilities, officers from triservices, R&D professionals, or anyone who wants to develop the skillset for information assurance.

Syllabus of the DRDO DIAT Online Course in Cybersecurity

During the 12 week-long course, participants will get to learn the fundamentals of cybersecurity and advanced topics including digital forensics, reverse engineering, malware analysis, vulnerability analysis, exploit mitigation and tools and techniques for Cyber Security professionals. The course syllabus is as follows:

• Cybersecurity essentials.
• Forensics and incident response.
• System or driver programming and OS internals.
• Reverse engineering and malware analysis.
• Vulnerability discovery module for windows, Linux and iOS.
• Vulnerability analysis and penetration testing.
• Tools and techniques for cybersecurity professionals.

Topics for Entrance Test for Admission into DRDO DIAT Online Course in Cybersecurity

Applicants will need to have basic knowledge of the following topics as the questions for the entrance test will be set from here:

• Fundamentals of OS: memory management, IPC, kernel architecture, process management, device management, file management, practical knowledge of BSD based OS, shell programming, Windows 32/64 APIs.
• Networking: OSI, TCP/IP, socket programming, win32 socket APIs, server messaging block, application and ports, TLS/SSL including TLS1.3, Firewalls, UTM, routing protocols, core/edge routers, ASN, IPv4/v6.
• System software: basic knowledge of assembly, x86 instruction set, addressing modes, registers, main memory space.
• Data structures.
• Knowledge of programming language C/C++/Java/any Object Oriented language, any one scripting language – php/python/ruby/perl.

The last date to apply for the entrance test is 15 February 2021, and selected candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs 15,000. Interested candidates are advised to go through the course brochure in detail, and then apply on the official website to register for the entrance test.
