DRDO Dare to Dream 2.0: Online Registrations to Begin on 15 August, Here Are All the Details

Online registrations for DRDO Dare to Dream 2.0 innovation challenge for individuals and startups, which was announced last month by the Defence Minister of India, will begin on 15 August 2020. The DRDO innovation challenge was formally announced by Rajnath Singh on the occasion of Dr APL Abdul Kalam’s fifth death anniversary.

“DRDO is organizing the second innovation contest 'Dare to Dream 2.0' on the 5th death anniversary of former President and DRDO Chief Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. The scheme is to encourage individuals and startups for innovation in defence and aerospace technologies in the country to effectuate the clarion call of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi,” says the DRDO website.

List of Areas for DRDO Dare to Dream 2.0 Innovation Challenge

Individuals and startups may submit proposals on the following topics:

• Detection and classification of low probability of intercept radar signals for electronic support systems.
• Materials and technologies for fire suppression or protection.
• Eco-friendly explosive waste management.
• Artificial intelligence based detection of a person based on physiological parameters.
• Development of robotic arm for scooping / machining of cured solid propellant (shore 'A' Hardness≥70).
• Development of neuromorphic vision sensors (design, fabrication of sensors and image reconstruction algorithms).
• Underwater MEMS acoustic vector sensor.
• Distributed fiber optic sensor interrogator.
• Data driven health monitoring and early warning diagnostic tools for aero gas turbine engines.
• Low powered tethered UAV.
• Open category: Exploring the unthinkable and unimaginable.

How to Apply for DRDO Dare to Dream 2.0 Innovation Challenge?

Those interested to take part in the contest need to submit a write up online, either in Hindi or English. Individuals and startups may select the challenges for which they want to make submissions in not more than five areas of challenges. A write-up of 200 words for each challenge, with the option of submitting attachments (PDF format, less than 2 MB) with more details for the submission can be uploaded.

To avoid rejection, no reference to the identity of the person submitting the proposal should be made. The team leader has the authority to represent the participating individual or start-up. Submissions will have to be made before 15 October 2020.

Prize Money for the DRDO Dare to Dream 2.0 Innovation Challenge

he prize money allotted for startups is 10 lakhs for first place, 8 lakhs for second place and 6 lakhs for third place. As far as individual winners are concerned, the prize money allotted is 5 lakhs for first place, 4 lakhs for second place and 3 lakhs for third place.
