DRDO Announces Innovation Contest for Startups and Individuals, Winner to get Rs 10 Lakhs

DRDO has announced the Dare to Dream 2.0 innovation contest to encourage Indian innovators and startups develop homegrown innovations in fields of defence and aerospace technologies. The DRDO Dare to Dream 2.0 innovation contest was announced by Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister of India, on the occasion of Dr APL Abdul Kalam’s fifth death anniversary.

“Innovative Solutions and ideas are invited for the challenges in defence and aerospace fields. The Winners will receive award money up to 10 lakhs for startups and up to 5 lakhs for individuals,” tweeted the Office of Defence Minister of India. Some of the science and technology areas for the innovation contest are artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, cyber security, hypersonic technologies, smart material, quantum computing and so on.

Eligibility to Take part in the DRDO Dare to Dream 2.0 Innovation Contest

To take part in the contest individuals should be citizens of India who are above 18 years of age, start-ups controlled by Indians and recognized by DIPP can participate. Participants will need to give an executive summary of their innovation, and how it would impact the future of the scientific sphere in context.

Participants will be required to provide a set of info such as what their innovation, provide information in detail how they plan to transform their idea into a product of utility, the resources on hand, the resources required, the timeframes, the constraints foreseen and any other additional requirements. More details about the challenge will be announced on the DRDO website.

How to Take Apply for the DRDO Dare to Dream 2.0 Innovation Contest?

Interested individuals and startups will need to submit applications online. An individual having a start-up may apply in the capacity of an individual as well as startup. An individual or startup can apply for not more than five areas of challenge. The prize money allotted for startups is 10 lakhs for first place, 8 lakhs for second place and 6 lakhs for third place. As far as individual winners are concerned, the prize money allotted is 5 lakhs for first place, 4 lakhs for second place and 3 lakhs for third place.
