What should be the DR strategies for an IT driven organization?
First and foremost companies must have a disaster recovery (DR) plan. Having
a right plan at the the right time is the need of the hour. Every business must
do an audit of its critical applications and business processes and assign a
recovery time objective for each of these processes. It is very important to
have visibility and capability of the DR solution. Often companies deploy DR
solutions, but if there is an outage they keep working on production. They need
to invest in tools, provide visibility and automation tools to recover data. IT
driven organizations need to take a holistic and a lifecycle approach. Customers
have to see where they stand in the maturity curve and how they can progress.
What are the biggest problems that CIOs face regarding data recovery?
Most IT heads in an organization do not have much visibility, as to how much
time would it take to recover the data and what data they are going to lose.
Large enterprises have lots of resources and managing all resources is a big
task. IT is moving towards 24x7 capability, but is struggling how to manage its
data. Sanovi products give visibility to IT managers and CIOs. It also helps
them to dramatically reduce the dependence on expertise by automating the whole
step. However, DR is still a board level decision; but the importance of DR
tools is being realized in several verticals. Most of the environments are
heterogeneous, and there is a need for an expertise to address the challenges in
such an environment.
Which verticles are you targeting? Who are your major customers?
Presently, we are targeting verticals such as BFSI, manufacturing, telecom,
and healthcare. We are also working on some e-governance projects. APDRP project
is one such project we are working on for the Ministry of Power. The goal of the
project is to increase efficiencies in power transmission and distribution, and
cut down losses to 10-15%. We have successfully carried out a project for HDFC
Bank where the organization was able to achieve 100% increase in frequency of DR
drills and reduce 85% application fail-over time. ICICI Bank, Corporation Bank,
Indian Overseas Bank, Vijaya Bank, Yes Bank, Bank of Baroda, L&T, and Essar are
few of our clients. We are targeting SMEs as well.
Is Sanovis products market ready for the cloud?
Cloud is an exciting prospect for us and can provide new capabilities to
enterprises. Sanovi had always anticipated of such services and we are cloud
ready. Our software is web based that can be viewed, initiated, or tracked
anywhere.
