Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), an autonomous unit of Department of Space (DOS) widely referred to as the ‘cradle of space sciences’ in India is looking to hire fresh graduates for a traineeship programme. The trainees would be appointed for a period of one year and paid a stipend of Rs 16,000 a month. PRL, which was founded on 11 November 1947 by then ISRO Chairman Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, is also supplying a payload to the highly awaited ISRO Chandrayaan 2 mission.

ISRO Chandrayaan 2, which is scheduled to be launched in July 2019, will carry an Solar X-ray monitor (XSM) from PRL for mapping major elements present on the lunar surface.

Who can Apply for the PRL Graduate Trainee Positions

Graduates who are above 18 years and not more than 26 years of age as on 30 April 2019 (relaxation as per GOI rules) and with a degree in Arts, Commerce, Management, Science, Law, or Computer Applications with at least 55 percent marks from a recognized institute or university can attend the walk-in skill test being conducted for the traineeship programme. Engineers are not eligible for the job says the notification.

Candidates are also required to have knowledge of computer operations, Microsoft Office and Hindi word processing. There is a requirement of a total of four graduates for PRL premises at Udaipur Solar Observatory and Mount Abu Infrared Observatory.

How to Apply for the PRL Graduate Trainee Positions

Candidates who are interested in appearing for the fellowship are required to download and fill an application from the official PRL website along with self attested copies of required documents as mentioned in the application format. Eligible candidates are required to attend a walk-in skill test in order to do which they need to report at Main Gate, Udaipur Solar Observatory (Physical Research Laboratory), Dewali, Badi Road, Udaipur 313 004, Rajasthan on 10 May 2019 between 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM. The trainee fellowships are temporary and for a period of one year only. Candidates have also been advised not to bring any mobiles, laptops, or other electronic graduates. Candidates are advised to go through the detailed advertisement of the official PRL website before applying for the job vacancies.
