Digitalization: Challenge and Opportunities- Workshop Begins With a Kick Start

The two day workshop is being organized to get a clear picture on Digital India’s impact on businesses through digitalization

SCOPE National Convention on “Digitalization: Opportunities and Challenges” began successfully yesterday on 28th June 2017 at SCOPE Convention Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Standing Conference of Public Enterprises- SCOPE, the apex body of Central Government owned Public Enterprises invited Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble Union Minister of Electronics & Information Technology and Law & Justice to inaugurate the two-day National Convention.

The two day seminar focuses on the government’s digital initiatives. The  workshop is being organized to get a clear picture on Digital India’s impact on businesses and how PSEs can leverage the digital transformation. With associates from organizations such as RailTel, KPMG, SISL Infotech and Oracle, the audience is largely representing OEMs from the ICT Community, end-users, consultants, distributors and various other Indian IT and software industry associations.

In his welcome address, Dr. UD Chaubey, DG, SCOPE said, “Digital India is not limited to e-office, e-file movement system and e-payments; but much more than that for Public Enterprises. All efforts are on to bridge the gap of constant innovations taking place every day. To succeed in this, the workforce, skills and capabilities have to keep pace with the most disruptive era of information technology.”

Ravi Shankar Prasad delivered the inaugural address highlighting how the government has geared up to serve as a powerful facilitator of digital transformation with Digital India initiative. The initiative is catalyzing the growth of indigenous electronic manufacturing and strengthening digital financial services.

Two notable launches were also made in the course of the day by SCOPE. Released by the Hon’ble Minister, first one being the launch of a special issue titled “Kaleidoscope” on Digital India. Whereas the second launch was a booklet named "SCOPE International HR Summit: Best Practices and Lesson Learned " which is an outcome of two day seminar on HR practices which was held earlier this year.

The launch was further followed by vibrant sessions and panel discussions where some of the speakers including RK Bahuguna(VC, SCOPE & CMD, RailTel), Ved Prakash(Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, MMTC), Rachna Nath(Head, Digital, KPMG), Onkar Rai(DG STPI, Rajesh Kapoor, Director-Tech TCIL), Neeta Verma(DG, NIC) and many more shared their insights on the growing trends which flourished post the transformative impact of Digital India initiative.

The first of the two day event also saw a series of panel discussions and sessions on topics ranging from digitalization in PSEs, digital technology changing the face of businesses, building intelligent operations and how leveraging cloud technologies can bring a revolution in the industries. A question and answer sessions in between every segment also opened up a platform for the audience to interact with the speakers and gain understanding of the changing trends.

The first day of SCOPE National Convention was a productive session which delivered key insights on how to develop an effective digital environment for businesses to flourish. The knowledge and understanding gained from the insightful talks and panel discussions will help in getting better understanding and in promoting awareness around the various technological interventions available.
