In the last decade or so, technology had made rapid inroads into all spheres of life. Students were increasingly being exposed to various manifestations of digital age outside school. KEY REQUIREMENTS

DPS RK Puram was looking for a solution that would help in making the teaching hours more productive, where teachers were able to engage students more effectively and get them to grasp abstract concepts easily. The other requirement was that the technology led program should be easy to use for teachers and synergistic with teacher's own teaching methods. From student's perspective, they were looking for technology led program that would help students to learn and retain knowledge and overall get them to be more interested in class room teaching. Dr DR Saini, Principal, DPS RK Puram says, "Educomp Smartclass has been a pioneer in this space and is an acknowledged leader with largest content repository that has been mapped to CBSE (Smartclass content is incidentally mapped to various other key education boards as well) and best-in-class technology."

THE IT CALL

In terms of advantages, technology when leveraged well always has the potential to play a vital role. Smartclass ushered in a revolution in teaching, learning methodology. It brought abstract concepts to life, empowering teachers with aids thorough which they could give exposure and virtual experience of the concepts to the students, which were really next to impossible otherwise. It brought a deeper understanding and retention among students.

Educomp Smartclass has made classroom learning more interesting and enjoyable. The overall attitude of students towards learning has become more positive and theoretical subjects like history and geography have become more interesting with visual aids. The overall information retention has become much higher since audio-visual learning enables the students to understand and retain even difficult concepts with ease.

Dr DR Saini, Principal, DPS RK Puram states, "Teachers too have benefitted from Educomp Smartclass since it has modernized teaching and teachers can explain the toughest of lessons with the use of 3D images. Smartclass has also enhanced the teacher's efficiency by providing diverse tools such as projectors, interactive boards and assessment devices." Through digital content, teachers are able to simplify complex concepts and provide better understanding to the students. It also makes learning a real life experience and help teachers customize their teaching sessions.

INITIAL INSTALLATION OF SMART CLASS

Initially for each class, 2 classrooms were converted into e-tech, ie, 14 smartclass enabled classrooms. All e-techs in campus were connected to knowledge center via LAN. 2 portable SAS setups had been provided for conducting formative assessments.

In Knowledge center, one dedicated Smartclass Server was deployed that had huge repository of 2D, 3D smart class modules which was designed and mapped for all the classes K-12 and all the subjects except regional and foreign languages.

Teachers used to explore content from smartclass application software, through their personal login in the classes and for Support purpose 2 Resource Coordinator, 2 Data Entry operator and 1 Residential Engineer was deputed in the school to ensure smooth and successful functioning of program in school.

THE FUTURE ROADMAP

"In keeping with its pioneering leadership in the sector with the largest customer base of over 15,000 private schools across India, Educomp is in process of launching several new products that will be offered to its existing base of customer," says Divya Lal, COO, Educomp Smartclass.
