DigiLocker data has not been breached, and all user data is completely secure, the organisation has confirmed. Abhishek Singh, CEO of MyGov and NeGD, has dismissed all rumors regarding the issue while reiterating that the team Digilocker is ever vigilant to ensure that the systems remain 100% secure. He also called the reports on the DigiLocker data breach “false and malicious”.

“The alleged Aadhaar documents published on a Telegram channel are all scanned copies or images of Aadhaar card. They seem to be from a matrimonial service provider and not from Digilocker,” Singh tweeted while adding that the Aadhaar numbers on the published documents were checked to see whether a DigiLocker account with those Aadhaar numbers exists. It was found that the accounts for most of the leaked Aadhaar numbers were not available on DigiLocker.

“Further, some of the files published on the Telegram channel are in .docx format. DigiLocker does not allow uploading of files in this format. Additionally, the file names in Telegram channel are sequential numbers whereas when you upload files on DigiLocker, file names are user defined and are in free text format,” he added.

Elliot Anderson, a Twitter handle with over 242 thousand, had tweeted the news of DigiLocker data having been leaked. The tweet, however, has now been deleted. DigiLocker also reiterated that there has been no breach of the platform, and the same is being falsely reported.
