This is not just another business expansion plan; this is about exploring
opportunities and out-of-the-box thinking. Many businesses expand but Overnite
Express, a courier company, expanded intelligently. In October 2008, Overnite
Express started its online print services called JustPrint. Overnite Express has
been into the courier business since 1987.
JustPrint is the first service that has gone beyond the conventional printing
norms in India. Online printing in India has been largely restricted to photo
prints alone. JustPrint is the first service which offers printing of
presentations, bound documents, certificates, digital photographs, greeting
cards, manuals, brochures, booklets, flyers, posters, newsletters, sell sheets,
business cards, cataloges, letterheads, post cards and just about anything else
to its customers. What is more, there are also options available for binding,
laminating, etc, available to the customer. The prices start from Rs1.50.
But the cherry on the cake remains the super quick delivery. And that is
obvious, given that the core expertise of the head company is delivery.
JustPrint then becomes a classic example of potential leverage by an established
company.

The Idea Behind
Says Gautam Sarawgi, chief development officer, JustPrint, After working in
the IT department for ten years in Overnite Express, I wanted to come out with
an innovative product which would be a combination of IT, my core area of
operation, and Overnites core-competence, courier services. I wanted to
leverage both IT and courier services. Hence, I thought of this product, online
printing service and quick delivery of the documents to the customer which is a
beautiful blend of the two.
And the idea seems to have come bang on time. The world is going virtual and
everything from business to marriages is happening on the web. The online
printing trend has caught up since the last few years. Although online printing
is a well developed concept in other countries, it is restricted to photo
printing in India till now. But with the basket of services JustPrint is
offering, things might change soon. In fact, they are already changing, says
Sarawgi. The response from the virtual world has been quite encouraging! There
is 100% customer satisfaction and we can confidently say that once somebody
becomes JustPrints customer, s/he remains with us, he says.
Sarawgi says that their target audience encompasses a wide range of people
and includes everyonestudents, homemakers, professionals, training companies,
advertising companies, corporates, publishing houses, ctal. He insists that ease
and swiftness is what makes JustPrint click with its users.
Overcoming the hurdle
One natural hindrance that comes in the way of JustPrint, and all other
online print services is the mode of payment. Most people in India either do not
possess credit cards or even if they do, are wary of using it online. To root
out this problem and expand its reach, JustPrint is in the process of tying up
with cyber cafes all across the country. What they are doing is that they are
converting/making numerous cyber cafes as their franchisees all over the
country. Once the settlements are over, anyone would be able to walk into a
cyber cafe with a pen drive or a CD and hand over his/her file(s) to the
franchisee. The franchisee will upload these file(s) onto the JustPrint website
and the rest is taken care of. The best part of this is that the customer is
able to make the payment in cash to the franchisee. This year, we are targeting
on having 500 such franchisees in our system, says Sarawgi.
What a relief it will be to use such a service and send all the assignments
to your boss at his doorstep, so that he can never again claim I never got your
email!
