SAP Wins Indian Navy Automation Deal
SAP AG today grabbed the prestigious turnkey contract from the Indian Navy
for implementing an enterprise-wide central online financial information system
(FIS). SAP secured the contract through an open product agnostic tender
scenario. System integrator, Wipro participated in the tender and quoted SAP
software as the best-fit solution that met the Indian Navy requirements,
followed by an elaborate technical evaluation process. The project is expected
to go live by September 2011. Indian Navy will seek to unify its business
processes and automated financial information systems to lower the overall
maintenance costs, improve management decision-making and resource management,
and enhance combat readiness.
Spanco Bags IT Deals from Anna Centenary Library
Spanco has won the IT contract to create IT infrastructure and deploy advanced
library management systems at the the Anna Centenary Library (ACL) of Chennai.
The project aims to implement the most modern technology in library management
available globally. ACL is one of the landmark projects for the State of Tamil
Nadu which is being built with an estimated investment of Rs 165 crore. The
library is being built on 8 acre of land which will have a capacity of 1,250
people at a time and a separate auditorium with seating capacity of 1,280 people
in addition to a amphitheater on the terrace. Such a huge infrastructure
requires complex technology solutions which will encompass integration and
networking of the library, book management system, RFID along with security and
surveillance. The IT system being built by Spanco will cover more than 1.2 mn
books, e-journals and e-books.
HCL Techs Saudi Deal
HCL Technologies has signed a seven year IT outsourcing services agreement with
Saudi Arabias Al Majdouie Group to provide end-to-end services for a period of
seven years. As per the deal, HCL is to develop infrastructure, implement an
Oracle e-business suite with more than seventy modules, and manage the IT
infrastructure of Al Majdouie which is a transportation, freight forwarding,
logistics and distribution company. HCLs end-to-end IT services would enable
the Al Majdouie Group to streamline business processes and integrate seamlessly
across all the group companies.
Tata Comm Ties Up with German Firm
Tata Communications has been chosen by German reinsurance companyHannover Re to
deploy and run its telepresence facilities, serving the groups internal teams
in eighteen locations across sixteen countries worldwide. Under the agreement,
Tata Communications will provide Hannover Re with a solution that includes
deployment and installation of rooms, maintenance, management and concierge
service for scheduling and reservations.
Wipro Chosen by IRDA
Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) has selected IT major
Wipro to develop and implement its integrated management system (IGMS). Earlier,
it had shortlisted TCS, CMC, Wipro, NSE IT and Deloitte for the project. The web
based grievance management system can capture everything happening in insurance
companies regarding policy-holder grievance management. The objective behind the
new system is to expand the scope of complaint redressal mechanism.
Genpact Ties Up with Federal-Mogul
Genpact has signed a three year contract with Federal-Mogul Corporation. Under
this contract, Genpact would provide a single-point-of-contact help desk,
supporting the markets of the North America, Europe, South America and Asia for
Federal-Mogul. The help desk would operate 24x7 and in multiple languages
including Japanese, Mandarin, German, French, Italian, Polish and Portuguese.
Federal-Mogul is a $5.3 bn leading global supplier of powertrain and safety
technologies for original equipment and aftermarket applications in the
automotive, railroad, aerospace and industrial markets.
