DataWind launches sub Rs 4K Phablet

DataWind today launched its lowest priced cross-over device aka known as Phablets priced at Rs 3,999. The device dubbed as UbiSlate 7Cx doubles as a smartphone as well as a tablet. The company also states that this device incorporates its patented web-delivery platform that's covered by 18 US and international patents. The platform according to DataWind, will enable devices to deliver the fastest mobile web experience on regular GSM-EDGE based networks.

"Despite the recent drop in value of the Indian Rupee, we are committed to bringing affordability in computing and internet access to India's masses. With this commitment, we've held strong and not increased pricing of our products, and instead, now are introducing new products with breakthrough pricing," said Suneet Singh Tuli, President & CEO,DataWind.

DataWind also launched 2 other products. While UbiSlate 3G7 - its first product capable of operating on a 3G networks is priced at Rs.6,999. This device comes with an embedded UMTS modem, without the need for external dongles. Meanwhile the UbiSlate 9Ci- its first product with a larger- a 9 inch tablet with WiFi connectivity is price at sub Rs. 5,000.

The company terms with the slew of 3 launches it has significantly breached the price performance barrier in the tablets space.

The company says that all the devices launched today are ready to ship to customers and they can order via online.
