IDC, 2002  Market Size (in $

The

growth of Bio-IT spending within India’s Life Sciences industry is

expected to increase at a 5-year compound annual growth rate of 65%. IDC

expects India to develop into a significant global player over the next

decade and beyond, as the crumbling blockbuster model (multi-billion

dollar drugs) will significantly benefit India’s Life Sciences. India’s

fledgling biotech sector is the most dominant force behind this Bio-IT

adoption, demonstrating year-on-year growth of over 90% over the forecast

period. IDC believes India will become an ideal centre for outsourcing

R&D and drug development processes.

Note

the data for HP includes revenue for both Hewlett Packard and Compaq.

As

organizations increase their reliance on the Web for various

activities, content delivery services are expected to be a key

method to ensure the quality of their critical business operations

and customer interfaces. Content delivery service providers have a

large potential market of in-house CDN users that could be migrated

to outsourced services if they can be convinced of the benefits of

switching. In-Stat/MDR believes that content delivery service

providers must demonstrate clear advantages to end-users for using a

content delivery service, as opposed to an in-house CDN: lower

capital costs, reduced requirements for in-house IT staff expertise

to operate a CDN, reduced risk from lower capital investments, and

scalability to handle unusual peaks in demand.
