Dassault Systemes launches SOLIDWORKS 2021 in India

Today, Dassault Systemes launched the SOLIDWORKS 2021 in India. Gian Paolo Bassi, CEO, SOLIDWORKS, Dassault Systemes said the company is present everywhere. There are 5 million+ users, serving over 330,000 companies. There are 800 fab labs, and over 475 incubators and accelerators. There are new companies in healthcare, smart cities, etc. So, what’s new in 2021?

He said: “We are expanding our portfolio. There is simulation, production and manufacturing, and governance. There is the SOLIDWORKS desktop software solution and the 3DEXPERIENCE cloud services that keep you more collaborative, productive and mobile. The 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS is now available in standard, professional, and premium versions.”

The 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS modernizes the SOLIDWORKS strategy to a cloud-centric, expanding the portfolio. It transforms from products to platform thinking. It integrates the SOLIDWORKS desktop into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. You can build the design from the present to the future of design. This enables competitive advantage.

For the 2020 grand challenge, Dassault Systemes successfully completed the largest and most complex collaborative design in the cloud, for a space shuttle. This had 10,000+ components, and created by over 500 employees in eight weeks. A video was played to demonstrate this.

There are new and expanded functionalities for SOLIDWORKS detailing simulation, assemblies, model display, user interface, parts and features, electrical, plastics, flow, inspection, MBD, CAM, PDM, etc. There are 49 applications of the  3DEXPERIENCE WORKS cloud portfolio.

Lot of startups
PM Ravikumar, India Management Director, SOLIDWORKS and 3DEXPERIENCE WORKS, Dassault Systemes said that most of the business is from the MSME and SME segments. All the indicators are pointing to a robust recovery to pre-Covid-19 levels. The purchase manager’s index (PMI) has now recovered, after a drop, midway, in the year.

There are lot of startups coming up. So far, we have collaborated with 280 startups and 44 incubators. Some of these are Calamus Bikes, Thinker Bell Labs, and Invento Robotics. The incubation centers are spread across India. There has been some success with the startups in India.

The Aakruti national level design contest was started in 2011. It had the objective to encourage students to showcase their design skills, creativity and innate talent. The 2020 contest has already started. Some categories are medical devices with innovation, design product for rural entrepreneurship, stop pollution at source, etc.

Pradeep Niduram, Territory Technical Manager, India West and Central at Dassault Systèmes, added that there are excel-based reports, color pickers for applications, etc. This can improve drawings and graphics, as well as the performance.
