DAKSH: First Big, Now Blue

New Update

The one big event that would dominate the Daksh timeline for 2004 would be its acquisition by global behemoth IBM for an estimated $160 million in April. The event had underpinnings for the BPO industry in India as well; was this the beginning of consolidation in this space?

Besides becoming an IBM subsidiary, Daksh moved its wings beyond the city of its birth, Gurgaon. Daksh set its fifth facility in Mumbai to address the aspect of geographic risk. This was soon followed by an overseas facility at the Philippines, to address the 'geopolitical diversity requirements of its clients'. This is in harmony with the diverse IBM client set. IBM's acquisition will offer it the ability to offer its clients an end-to-end solution covering the three critical components of IT infrastructure (hardware, software, and services), consulting and processing. But this will not lead to Daksh diluting its strong focus on the BFSI, telecom, technology, travel and hospitality and e-commerce and retailing verticals. With 13 Fortune 500 companies as clients, Daksh is sure ready to take the next year head on.
