The
one Hollywood movie title that seems crafted for Daksh is that of the Jack
Nicholson starrer "As Good As It Gets," albeit in a different sense
altogether. The company made big news a few months ago after its acquisition by
the IT monolith IBM. And now it has moved up four notches to top the table this
year.
The company finishes on top of the pile in terms of cost-to-company across
the entire industry. However, in contrast, its employees are not quite satisfied
with the salary that they receive: Daksh ranks eighth in terms of employee
satisfaction from salary. This could also stem from the fact that the employee
satisfaction with the last hike received was not very high. Employee
satisfaction on perks and benefits is also not something that Daksh would be too
happy to talk about. In terms of performance on other parameters, Daksh has
thrown in a decent performance.

It ranks in the top five on parameters like company culture, people,
training, appraisal, job content and growth opportunities. It, therefore, comes
as no surprise that four out of five employees say that they would recommend the
company to a close friend of theirs. This is the one factor that has the
greatest impact on overall employee satisfaction. Daksh is also perceived as a
place that offers a lot of opportunity for growth. Nearly 82% of the people
joining Daksh look at it as a place that offers a lot of growth opportunity as
opposed to an industry average of 59%. This is coupled with a feeling among
employees that the BPO company also provides a healthy work environment. As many
as 74% employees feel that Daksh provides a good work environment.

However, unlike last year, when stress levels among Daksh employees were the
lowest, this year has seen a flip: stress levels have seen a considerable jump,
and performance pressure, coupled with odd work hours and long commuting
periods, seem to be taking a toll. And on all of these parameters the average
Daksh employee is far more stressed than his peer in the industry. This is one
aspect that can easily erode loyalty that the employees feel for Daksh. In all
likelihood, ever escalating stress levels will not lead to the positive
word-of-mouth that Daksh enjoys as of now.

But the larger picture is that an overwhelming large proportion of Daksh's
employees, 97% (second only to Motif's 100%), feel proud about working for the
company, and not even two out of ten employees would leave the company for a 20%
raise. Daksh has been quite successful in creating a sticky and loyal workforce.
