Citrix announced its reinforced India focus on Desktops-as-a Service (DaaS), a desktop virtualization solution that delivers desktops, applications and data as an on-demand service. The company's focus is in line with the growing demand among Indian CIOs for TCO reduction in enterprise desktop deployments along with the need for anytime anywhere access to corporate data. Globally, Citrix leads the DaaS market today serving over 350,000 subscribers, growing 50 percent annually, through over 1,500 service providers who offer hosted desktops and applications.

Citrix-powered Desktops-as-a-Service provides secure access to desktops, apps and data; securely delivered over the web and hosted by a managed service provider. The remote hosting nature of the solution eliminates the need for local management of servers, hardware or software updates. Additionally, Citrix DaaS provides an accessible pay-as-you-go model to scale up in busy seasons and reduce expenditures when necessary. Hosted desktop services from Citrix partners deliver more than just remote access, including mobile device management, offering security and support for corporate and employee-owned devices.

In India, Ratnakar Bank turned to Citrix to strengthen its enterprise desktop strategy aided by DaaS that significantly lowered the cost of application delivery/user/month by more than 25%, and reduced power consumption by over 65%. A centrally-hosted, remotely monitored model with enhanced security allowed the bank to increase IT effectiveness and ROI. Additionally, Polycab, Wires Private Limited, India's No. 1 Cables & Wires Company which chose Citrix DaaS offering aims to save 25% of operational costs year on year, while meet the increasing demand of users by delivering apps and desktops on-demand. Today, the company has close to 700 users using the DaaS environment. Apart from these brands, Citrix has a marquee list of DaaS customers in India including Thermax, Ratnakar Bank and Fullerton.
