What exactly is the DAAD WISE Program? 

The DAAD Working Internships in Science and Engineering (WISE) program is designed for Indian students studying science or engineering who want to complete a research internship in a publicly funded German higher education institution or research institute.  As a result, the DAAD WISE Scholarship provides financing for internships in Germany. You must first acquire training in Germany before applying for the DAAD WISE Scholarship. 

How much money is provided by the DAAD WISE Funding?

The DAAD WISE Funding assists selected students in the following ways: 

- A 936 euro monthly grant for undergraduate students. The monthly instalment will be calculated daily at 25 euros per day. 

- A lump sum travel subsidy of 1,050 euros, which is currently available.

- DAAD-covered payments for health, accident, and personal liability insurance. 

The grant is available for a two to three-month research period between May and August. This initiative only sponsors internships lasting up to 60 or more than 90 days. 

Who can apply for the DAAD WISE Scholarship? 

Students who apply for the WISE Scholarship must meet the following requirements: 

  • The candidate must be a student at one of the Indian higher education institutions listed below. Among other factors, the list of institutions is based on AICTE permission, NAAC accreditation, MHRD appraisal, INI (Institute of National Importance) and Institutions of Eminence designation. 
  • Candidates should be enrolled in programs in the broad subjects of engineering, mathematics, and natural sciences. 
  • Candidates must be in their fifth or sixth academic semester of a four-year Bachelor's degree program or their fifth, sixth, seventh, or eighth academic semester of a five-year integrated or dual degree (Bachelor) program. 
  • Candidates must have yet to receive a WISE scholarship.
