New Update

Security solutions in the past were largely centered around protecting the physical infrastructure, and traditional security policy was expressed in terms of a particular device such as ‘the corporate PC', an IP address, a network port, or an application protocol. Trends such as BYOD, cloud computing, and virtualization of the data center as well as the advent of social media pose significant challenges around current business strategies and decisions. Some of these trends affect specific functional areas of a business, while others represent broader social, technological, or competitive areas.

Today the network demands a new generation of on-demand and intelligent security solutions to maintain data integrity and business continuity in the enterprise. The ever increasing sophistication of cyber attacks has made it mandatory for a quick response time from the network to be able to maintain business continuity and calls for an integrated, adaptive as well as collaborative approach to security. CTOs and CSOs are increasingly demanding advanced computer and network security technologies to stay one step ahead of ever-evolving malicious behavior and the theft of assets and identity.

If we look at this year's DQ-CMR customer satisfaction survey, the leading league has been the same as last year with Symantic leading the wagon followed by Intel McAfee, Cisco, Microsoft, Trend Micro, and Check Point.

Symantec scored highest in overall product reliability and product performance on the score card. Constant innovation, customer-driven design, and staying ahead of strategic IT trends have helped Symantec products gain customer trust and support.

Cisco this year has been at the forefront in investing significantly to develop products and services to deliver identity, network, content security solutions enabling customers to reduce the impact of threats on the network. The company has updated its security solutions with the SecureX architecture. The company has also launched a host of solutions designed to fortify data centers against the threats they face in moving towards more consolidated and virtualized environments.

Next-generation workforce is introducing many security challenges of an unprecedented scale for most companies. As more people, things, and devices connect to the Internet, more data from more places will be introduced across corporate and service provider networks, which open up new vulnerabilities and a need for more sophisticated security approaches.

Also, with increased adoption of Web2.0 technologies including social media, wikis, and even video; CIOs and CTOs are under immense pressure to be able to deliver a seamless and robust network to users while simultaneously coping with the growing technology complexity, security, and compliance issues.

There is a pressing need for organizations to speed up existing data processing systems using solutions such as cloud computing and virtualization of the datacenter. This is primarily because there is a greater demand to utilize real time information to increase agility and improve efficiency of processes. As a result, organizations are increasingly trying to rein in the challenges of being able to adopt future technologies in a cost effective manner by deploying future ready networks.

While cyber attacks are becoming more sophisticated, the insider threat to data is also increasing, even as organizations are no longer able to standardize on one platform with the advent of BYOD. Ensuring that critical information, identities, and infrastructure are protected regardless of the platform, system, or location is a key challenge that security vendors are looking to overcome.
