CoWIN OTP issues seem to be bothering a section of citizens yet again who claim that the platform has been displaying “Generate OTP Failed” message when trying to book COVID-19 vaccine appointments. Citizens have been reporting issues with receiving OTP time and again while booking vaccine appointments. The issue first surfaced while beneficiaries above 18 years old tried to register on the platform on 28 April 2021.

“Please fix the error that is showing up on the CoWIN portal while booking the slot. OTP is not generating. I have other three members who still need to book their second Dose,” says Varun Mudgil. “Please fix the error on CoWIN Portal error. It flashes Generate OTP Failed Message, and is not sending OTP on my number,” says Mohit.

Some users claim that the same problem appears on the Aarogya Setu app as well. “I am unable to generate OTP on Aarogya Setu app and on CoWIN app. We need to book a slot for second dose of Covaxin, which I can't even book from any other number. Please help at the earliest,” says Sachin. “Trying to login to CoWin both through Desktop and Mobile but OTP generation fails every time. Displays error code USRAUT0018 and Generate OTP failed on desktop. Called 3-4 times but each time they put on hold and disconnected,” says another citizen.

However, the error seems to be affecting only a section of people as others claim they are getting their OTPs from the platform. Furthermore, beneficiaries are also advised to deactivate DNDs to try and get OTP.
