CoWIN OTP issues seem to be bothering a section of citizens yet again who claim that the platform has been displaying “Generate OTP Failed” message when trying to book COVID-19 vaccine appointments. Citizens have been reporting issues with receiving OTP time and again while booking vaccine appointments. The issue first surfaced while beneficiaries above 18 years old tried to register on the platform on 28 April 2021.
“Please fix the error that is showing up on the CoWIN portal while booking the slot. OTP is not generating. I have other three members who still need to book their second Dose,” says Varun Mudgil. “Please fix the error on CoWIN Portal error. It flashes Generate OTP Failed Message, and is not sending OTP on my number,” says Mohit.
Some users claim that the same problem appears on the Aarogya Setu app as well. “I am unable to generate OTP on Aarogya Setu app and on CoWIN app. We need to book a slot for second dose of Covaxin, which I can’t even book from any other number. Please help at the earliest,” says Sachin. “Trying to login to CoWin both through Desktop and Mobile but OTP generation fails every time. Displays error code USRAUT0018 and Generate OTP failed on desktop. Called 3-4 times but each time they put on hold and disconnected,” says another citizen.
However, the error seems to be affecting only a section of people as others claim they are getting their OTPs from the platform. Furthermore, beneficiaries are also advised to deactivate DNDs to try and get OTP.
Update: Error to be Fixed by 8 June 2021 in the Evening
Issue is not related to Mobile service. COWIN application is showing pop-up that “Generate OTP Failed”.

The otp is being sent succesfully if the SEND OTP API is used but facing the error when otp is requested using setu app or cowin website. All the helpline numbers are not responsive. This is really frustrating.
But otp sent by api is not valid on website cause unique TNX_ID should be matched on otp validation api .
I called techincal helpline number and customer executive it’s known issue they will fixed that by today evening… But God knows when they will fix the issue and deploy the changes

It’s very difficult to get slots in cowin app . Even slots are available still shows already booked when enter the capture .

If I use same phone with 2 sim ,in One Sim I had registered 1st and 2nd dose. That sim has issues such as errorCode”:”USRAUT0018 or otp failed.
At the same time when I use the 2nd sim from same phone and log in to cowin it is running smoothly, I think issue is with registered numbers which jad taken dose 1 and trying to register dose 2.

All are requested to utilize Cowin website to register and booking time slot for Covid Vaccination. Website.. cowin.gov.in. Corwin app is not for general public and that app is meant for officials and staff. Hence, please use above website only for cowin vaccination. You can also get all the information regarding Vaccination in India. All of you are also requested to download the DigiLocker app in your mobile. You can able to download and save your vaccination certificate, Adhaar, PAN card, Driving Licence etc which will act as original in many occasions. Please go through once in detail the DigiLock app, which is very useful.

OTP, is problem, first reduce the digits keep it in 3,4 digits, otherwise it is difficult to remember. Give priority those
e who have taken first dose brfore too late, especially old aged citizens.
Same issue with booking 2nd dose of Covaxin. Helpline not useful, just telling to visit the hospital and ask for new shot, which is just not how it works. Very stressful, because vaccin is finally available again, but not able to book or to connect other phone number.

I am also facing the same problem. Others are getting OTP but a section of people going for the second jab of covaxin are facing the problem. I tried many times to book the slot even when the slot was showing, I couldn’t. Now this OTP generation failed problem have started. I think this is being done intentionally. And you see a lot of manpower is being wasted. People are sitting before laptop for several hours to get a slot booked but in vain.

OTP is not generated when I use the cowin app but gets generated if I use the cowin website. Also,, there is a limit on the number of searches, which is too low. Typically, people search for each date which itself results in 14 searches. I was blocked after a few searches
It says OTP generation failed…. Even i called on 1075, they say its a technical error and will be rectified in one or two days. Don’t know when this will be rectified and till the time vaccine will be there or not.

The cowin portal is not generating OTP and I am deprived of booking a slot for second dose of vaccine. The problem persists for almost 23 hours.
This is absolutely ridiculous. My vaccine window closes on the 17th. There’s no helpline I can reach out on to address this issue. The monumental ineptness of the government in handling the COVID situation just becomes starker every day.

Error Changed from “Generate OTP Failed” to “Exceeded Search Limit. Please try again after sometime”. Seriously! exceeded!?. how am I suppose to book slots without repeatedly searching for it and that too when slots are booked faster than the speed of light. Thats true, now getting OTP limit exceed…I am surprised that if they had capped the number of OTP per day, atleast they should have mentioned it somewhere so that we would have been more cautious…

The problem hasn’t been rectified yet. I spoke to the person incharge of a major hospital and they said a lot of people have come today to the hospital citing the same problem. They have informed the authorities about the same.
Cowin site have rename their error description and now showing error as “Exceeded Search Limit. Please try after some time.” but still I am not able to login.
Renaming the error description would not help, this login issue should be fixed asap so that we can book a slot for 2nd dose.

I registered complaint on cowin techincal helpline . Just got a call from cowin techincal office as per him it will take approx 1 week to fix this issue .
One week. This is too long. Then how about the people who really due for second dose. Especially covaxin.

I am facing the same issue . Issue is same just they have changed the description . I am also a developer and don’t have why they have put the limit of attempts without showing the number of counts . Don’t know to whom the govt has given the contract to construct this site . Totally useless , better to have pen and paper which other developed countries are doing

Getting same error since afternoon. They cant rectify an error. Cowin app not worked properly. Now this app. US is sending notification for 3rd dose and we are yet done with our 2nd. Slots are opening but we cant book a single appointment due to this error. How frustrating.

After attempting few time with OTP, now new error is coming of blocking of number and for I need to read term and condition….such a pathetic site’s…when slot are not easy to book some will attempt multiple time then what is reason of blocking.. also where is term and condition in which mentioned that how many attempts are ok per day

Even banks allows ti get unblock the online accounts, you are hiding your limitations of infrastructure in the name of account block. Be mature and grow up. Learn some technical skills. Have you ever seen fb or google down (very rare). Even irctc? Is cowin getting more hits than these servers? Lol

I am facing a very unique issue with cowin.whenever I am trying to book the slot for 18+ it will show vaccination slot is full,try another centre-though the available slots are there in 200+ numbers,when I called the mentioned helpline and raised this issue that why I am not able to book it though it’s showing available in huge numbers ?the funny reply I get from helpline is “are you working ?why you are not taking the dose through your company? then she told that vaccines are not available for 18+,it’s showing incorrect information in cowin..

Govt wants social media sites to appoint Nodal officer to resolve the issue but they dont want to appoint anybody for Cowin……Cowin Nodal officer now only GOD so when you are lucky they will resolve the issue otherwise no help from govt

Now this is displayed- Your account is blocked for exceeding our search limit, please read our terms of service. They are changing patterns and not addressing the real issue. Talked to 1075 and they assured that the issue will resolve in some time. This is happening since yesterday. Even the call centre representatives are unprofessionals. After knowing everything like phone no, state, city, name, age, caste, creed, religion, siblings, father, mother, bank balance, FDs, RDs, and a no. of few other details, the lady on the other side asks “oh are you not getting the OTP on website also.. ” I was like…with stone face, I tried to understand what she said..After completing entire Ramayana she is asking as to whose father is Sita…Really pathetic situation.. and then we say that entire world is progressing except India..
A senior member of the technical team told me that once an account is blocked it may take 2-3 days for unlocking. Sad to see that this not being highlighted by media and all our concerns on falling on deaf ears.

Surprising this got fixed for me yesterday late evening
I am also facing the same problem while booking slot from 2nd dose of COVAXIN. Getting error Message “Your Account Blocked For Exceeding Our Search Limit’ while login from my registration number on cowin.gov.in, Aarogya setu and UMAG.
I tried to connect with technical query number -0120 447 3222 and they are also not able to give correct time line to unblock my account.
Then finally I went to nearest vaccine center with my 1st dose certificate and they have checked and provided me “2nd DOSE of COVAXIN”.
So I recommend to all please check your nearest vaccine center and ask them to provide 2nd DOSE if you are still facing isssue.

I had my second dose of covidshield and has got the message as well. BUT my certificate is still showing second dose pending. Pls provide the resolution.

Issue got resolved for me. OTP is coming now. Login is also happening.
After 48 hours the error was self resolved for me. I am able to generate OTPs as of now. I would recommend to wait for 48 hours from the moment the first time the error shows up.
Shame on you all first you use bots and act innocent here.
