CoWin App Self-registration Option to Go Live from 1 March: Documents Needed and Other Details

CoWin App Self-registration option will go live from 1 March 2021, and citizens in the age group of 60 and above will be able to register for vaccination

CoWin App will soon be opened for public, and the self-registration option will go live for citizens above the age of 60 as well as for those above 45 years of age who are suffering with co-morbid conditions. There are twenty co-morbid conditions that will be listed, for which self-registrations will be allowed. Beneficiaries will have to submit a medical certificate as proof.

According to interviews given to various news channels, Ram Sewak Sharma,chairman of the Co-Win Panel, has said that there will be three ways in which the citizens in the above mentioned age group can receive vaccinations: One is through registration on the CoWin App or website, second is through Aarogya Setu, and third is by walking-in into registered government centres, which has been allowed to help people without access to mobile phones or the Internet.

CoWin App Registration Option on Aarogya Setu

The CoWin software has been integrated with Aarogya Setu, the contact tracing app unveiled by the Government of India, which has already been downloaded widely by citizens of the country. “Aarogya Setu has all information regarding Vaccination against COVID19. Get to know about relevant information, dashboard data on total vaccination done and also download your Vaccination Certificates. Registration for Vaccination coming soon,” the official account of Aarogya Setu had tweeted earlier this month.

The dedicated CoWin section of Aarogya Setu currently has information regarding the following aspects of the COVID-19 vaccination:

  • Vaccination information that consists of informational videos.
  • Option to download vaccination certificates digitally for those who have received two doses of vaccination.
  • Vaccination dashboard that displays information on the number of beneficiaries who have received the vaccination.

The self-registration option will be made available on the app after 1 March 2021 on the CoWin section of the app.

Documents Needed for Self-registration

Citizens will need to register along with any one of the following documents, which will serve as proof of address and age: passport, driving license, passbooks with photographs issued by banks, PAN card, Aadhaar car, health insurance smart card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, MNREGA Job card, pension document with photograph, and so on.

Beneficiaries can register up to four members of their family through one number by entering details such as name, address, age and other important details. The details of the photo ID card entered at the time of registration will have to be brought at the time of vaccination. The CoWin software then sends a message to the beneficiary’s registered mobile number and also provides a location link to the health centre where the vaccination would be delivered.
