CSC Plans Center
CSC plans to launch a new development center in Chennai. The center will
initially accommodate 400 employees. The facility will provide applications and
infrastructure services for many of CSC's global clients.
IDS Expands Operations
International Decision Systems (IDS) has announced plans to expand
its Bangalore operations. The US-based company had in October 2005 set up its
global product development center at Bangalore, for development of its leasing
and loan accounting and portfolio management solutions.
Techspan's Consolidation
TechSpan India has announced the consolidation of its Bangalore
operations and development center into a single 750 people facility in Bangalore.
This facility will be dedicated to serving top financial institutions and
investment banks on the Wall Street and will host the country's best financial services domain
and technology experts in the securities industry.
NetApp to Up Headcount
Network storage solutions vendor Network Appliance is on a hiring spree. The
company plans to ramp up its current base of 250 employees in India to 750 in a
couple of years. Dave Hitz, co-founder and executive VP, Network Appliance said
the company has the option to grow further to 1200.
Polaris in Ireland
Polaris Software has announced the setting up of a banking and
financial application certification center in Belfast, Northern Ireland,
assisted by Invest Northern Ireland (Invest NI). The Belfast center will be
developed in three phases. It will also act as a software development and
business continuity center.

Agilent to Invest $25 mn in India
Agilent Technologies has laid the foundation of its first campus near
Manesar, Haryana. The 10-acre campus will be one of Agilent's largest
worldwide, and will house employees involved in research and development,
engineering support, and financial services for the company globally.
Infosys to Hire 25,000
With a view to bid for big global projects, Infosys Technologies has
announced that it plans to hire 25,000 employees next fiscal. At present, the
company has 52,750 employees on its payroll. Of the 25,000, 18,000 jobs would be
in IT services while the remaining 7,000 would be spread across various
subsidiaries.
eInfochips Opens Center
eInfochips has announced the opening of its third design center in Ahmedabad.
Set up with an investment of $1 mn and spread over 15000 sq ft, the center will
house 170 design engineers, taking the total number of engineers to 480. The new
facility will house a center of excellence for chip and SoC design and product
design services for consumer multimedia applications.
BearingPoint Opens GDC
BearingPoint has announced the opening of a new global development center (GDC)
in Bangalore. The approximately 55,000 sq ft center will allow BearingPoint to
offer clients a service facility.
TAKE Gets $4.45 mn
TAKE Solutions has announced that YES Bank has offered debt financing of
$4.45 mn in the company to fuel TAKE's growth going forward.
HP to Open IP Center
HP has announced the opening of an intellectual property (IP)
licensing center to serve the fast-growing Asia Pacific market. Located in
Singapore, the center is expected to serve companies, governments, research
institutes and universities in the region.
Hexaware Opens Center
Hexaware Technologies, a provider of IT and BPO services globally, has
inaugurated its latest software development center at Pune. The center will
provide services in ERP—Peoplesoft and Oracle, Dot Net and Java, Testing and
Product lifecycle management.
Intel's Partner Program
Intel has announced plans to have a new channel partner program. The new
classification, to be effective from July 1, 2006 will do away with the emphasis
on unit selling and will focus more on the solutions provided by the partners.
Thus Intel has decided to do away with the existing ranks of GID, IPP, ITR.
These would be replaced by premium, associate and registered partners.
Bangladesh PC Mkt Grows 16.4%
The Bangladesh PC market expanded 16.4% in 2005 to 163,400 units, generating
a value of $129.4 mn. The market received a boost from strong economic growth
and the government's efforts to encourage automation. A dip in prices also
helped fuel growth, particularly in the laptop segment, which grew 24% in 2005.
