DRDO has issued a notice for cancellation of walk-in-interviews for the engagement of trade apprentices at Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory, Kerala. The Defence Research and Development Organisation had announced the availability of 41 Trade Apprentice vacancies at its centre last month for which walk-in-interviews were to be conducted on 11 and 12 March 2020 at NPOL.
“The Notification for Selection for Engagement of Trade Apprentices by Walk-In selection process on 11-03-2020 & 12-03-2020 at the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Kochi), is hereby cancelled due to the COVID-19 public health emergency situation prevailing in the State,” says DRDO on its website.
The notification also mentions that a fresh notification regarding the trade apprentice vacancies will be published in due course on DRDO website as well as Employment News. The vacancies available were for candidates with an ITI in trades such as fitter, turner, machinist, draughtsman, welder, Electronic Mechanic, Electrician, COPA and so on.
Candidates had been asked to appear for a walk-interview to be conducted at DROMI, NPOL with all the relevant certificates and documents. However, as the number of Coronavirus cases mounts to eight in the state of Kerala, a decision to call off the interview has been taken by the organisation.
The World Health Organisation (WHO), as well as the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has advised people to avoid crowded areas and maintain a healthy distance from individuals to avoid the proliferation of the Coronavirus. As a result of this advisory, several organisations are cancelling their scheduled events until further notice from the government.
