Convergys: The Success Saga

Other than GECIS and Wipro BPO, Covergys is the largest employer amongst BPOs
in the country-no doubt this played a big role in catapulting it to the #2
position in the DQ Top15 club. Throughout the year, the company was on a
sporadic drive to ramp up operations as it opened new centers in Pune, Hyderabad
and Thane, while Chennai and Mohali were shortlisted for new facilities this
year. Nearly 70% of the company's crucial business was generated out of India.

The Cincinatti-based provider of outsourced billing, HR and customer care
services also planned to foray into the domestic sector. With everything running
smoothly throughout the year, Convergys has been rocked in recent times by a
steady exodus of the top management. First it was Nandini Aggarwal, one of the
company's first employees in India, followed by some other senior executives and
then JS Ghumman-the head honcho credited with making Convergys the only
non-Indian BPO company that has grown its India offshore delivery so much taking
an almost organic route.
