e-Commerce grasps rural India, reveals eBay Census 2012

Online Shopping is mainstream & a nationwide phenomenon now in our country, reveals eBay Census 2012 report where rural india showed prominant shopping trend over internet.

According to the census results; consumers from over1,015 Rural Hubs shopped online in 2012. Also there were close to 3,281Bharat Hubs i.e Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities where Indians shopped maximum in 2012.

Overall, India has over 4,306 eCommerce Hubs from all 28 States and 7 Union Territories, a 30% increase from eBay Census 2011 in which

Rural e-Shoppers!

According to the census results, India's Top 5 Rural Hubs are Guntur (AP), Choryasi (GJ), Kartikapall (KL), Villupuram (TN) &Dindori (MH).

Most Interestingly; in these rural hubs, mobile phone cases was the topmost traded item. Next to these came republic of India notes, modems,bluetooth headsets and tablets. What was most exported was natural diamonds, salwar kameez, temorary tattoos, decorative crystals and sarees from these rural hubs.

Smartphones, wrist watches, GPS holders, solar energy panels and laptops were top five items which were imported in last one year in these rural hubs.
