Class 12 CBSE board exams 2021, which have been postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic, may be postponed or cancelled. However, a decision regarding the same may not be announced today as is being expected by students and parents across the country. Several media houses have reported that a decision with regard to Class 12 CBSE board exams 2021 is likely to be announced on 17 May as Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank is holding a meeting with state education secretaries.

While it is true that the education minister is holding a virtual meeting with state education secretaries, it is unlikely that they would take a decision with regard to Class 12 CBSE board exams 2021 yet as the meeting is only being held to review the COVID-19 situation, online education and work around the National Education Policy. “Minister of Education, Government of India Shri Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank will be virtually attending a meeting with State Education Secretaries on 17th May 2021 at 11 AM. The objective of the meeting is to review the COVID situation, online education, and work around NEP,” said the Ministry of Education about the meeting.

The Ministry of Education had earlier announced that a decision on conducting Class 12 CBSE board exams 2021 will only be taken in the first week of June after reviewing the situation. Students across the country have been expecting a decision on the matter soon as they claim that the uncertainty over the situation was causing them anxiety. Students are also hoping for examinations to be cancelled rather than postponed as further postponement of Class 12 CBSE board exams 2021 will only delay their future education.

“Students across the state are under immense mental pressure, some of them have already lost their loved ones due to COVID-19. We request, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank to take a concrete decision on postponing or canceling 12th board examinations without delay,” says one such student Ankit Dutta. “Covid-19 is still fatal. Please don't risk our life for an exam. There are other options also to check our understanding of concepts. If a student is able to clear competitive exam, then surely he knows the concepts of class 12. What if any one of us gets infected due to the boards?” asks another student. However, students may have to wait until June to know about the Government of India’s decision on the Class 12 CBSE board exams 2021.
