The IT world often faces situations where each problem has to be fixed separately, resulting in disintegrated solutions that do not fit together. Themed around unification of networks, Cisco on Tuesday unveiled its network infrastructure based on one policy-one source-one management for the entire network - Unified Access Solution. This provides a set of network capabilities across wired, wireless and virtual private networks, allowing them to work as a single entity. "The mega trends that drive the industry are BYOD, cloud and big data, which constantly drive IT providers to keep up with mobility trends. Cisco intends to deliver new connected experiences over any network with the Unified access Solution," shares Mahesh Gupta, VP, Business Development - Borderless Networks, Cisco India and SAARC.

The highlights of this solution are one policy - to manage a unified network policy, one management - to deliver a converged platform for visibility of applications and services across the entire network, and one network - with a smarter and faster access layer to handle the onslaught of new devices and applications.

"Presently, customers have to figure out how to put layers together and integrate it. Cisco's Unified Access Solution addresses these changing needs, and we expect applications and IT providers to work across platforms, bringing hardware and software together," Gupta adds.

Cisco believes that this unified solution will increase the agility of infrastructure and ease of consumption for its customers. It has been designed to help IT organizations become a competitive differentiation to the business by shifting the focus from time-consuming operational activities to developing innovative business offerings, such as new connected consumer experiences or personalized connected banking services.
