CBSE keeps collaborating with institutes such as IIMs, IITS and other organizations to organize professional development programmes for its principals and teachers to organize training of teachers through its regional training centres in various subjects and other core skills related to school education.

CBSE in its current appeal to IIMs states that some of the learning outcomes of such training enable principals for the following:

  1. Preparation of pedagogical plans.
  2. Train teachers to track the progress of students on learning goals/outcomes and implement competency-based education.
  3. Lead teachers in assessing and improving lesson plans and instructional designs by incorporating 21st Century skills.
  4. Collect and use data to oversee the organization and resources.
  5. Address interest and needs of staff, students and other stakeholders.
  6. Implement policies of various governing bodies and respond effectively to changes that impact the schools.
  7. Model democratic value systems, Team Building, and Growth of traits.
  8. Motivate teachers for academic excellence and happiness.
  9. Suitably providing a safe and fulfilling environment.
  10. Manage innovations in schools through project planning, systems management, promoting ICT use.

“The school principals, being the administrative and academic head of schools, have a challenging leadership role and need continuous training and platform for the exchange of ideas and practices. The Board thus organises Leadership Training Programmes for principals which focus on the multiple roles and responsibilities, provide space to examine issues that most principals face today, and facilitate evolving a tactical response for a better future adaptability of schools,” said CBSE through a press release.

The Board has also requested IIMs to keep a reasonable fee for the short term courses to encourage participation from both well-resourced schools as well schools situated in remote areas and most educationally backward sectors of the country.
