CBSE Offers Free Online Training Courses on Experiential Learning and Competency-based Education for Teachers

CBSE is currently offering free online training courses on experiential learning and competency-based education available on the Government of India’s DIKSHA platform. The interactive online course, developed in association with Central Square Foundation, aims at promoting competency-based education in schools. The course can be taken by teachers and school leaders and has been designed to deepen educators’ understanding of the best practices in competency-based teaching, learning, assessment design and processes underlying CBE models.

“The National Education Policy 2020 calls for the shift towards experiential and competency-based learning approach to ensure proficiency in learning by students for dealing with real-life situations. It emphasizes the integration of Sports and Arts in the teaching of core subjects to make it multidisciplinary, more joyful and designing of assessment tools to acquire learning outcomes and reduce rote learning,” says CBSE in the official notification regarding the course.

Through these training courses, CBSE aims to sensitize educators to implement multisensory pedagogic processes involved in experiential learning to make learning in classrooms more joyful, reflective and multidisciplinary. CBSE says that so far 65,931 teachers and principals have completed the course on experiential learning, and competency-based learning has been completed by 8,743 teachers and principals. The board aims at rolling out these training programs for all its educators in a time bound manner.

How to take CBSE Free Online Training Courses on Experiential Learning and Competency-based Education

Interested educators will have to complete both the courses before 20 March 2021, and file the compliance report through the designated link before 31 March 2021. To take the course, teachers and educators will have to take the following steps:

  • Download the DIKSHA app on an Android mobile phone.
  • Sign in using DIKSHA Account, Sign in via Google, or register on DIKSHA using an email id or mobile number.
  • Take the courses by clicking on the link provided in the official notification.
