CBSE Invites E-content for its Vidya Daan Initiative to Help Students Prepare Better for Exams

CBSE has invited schools and teachers to provide good quality e-content to provide schools and teachers in urban and rural areas that can be used anytime, anywhere at no cost. The Vidya Daan initiative, which was launched on 12 September 2019 by Minister of HRD, Ramesh Pokhriya, currently has approximately 6000 content pieces and is being used by teachers and students across the country.

E-content for grades 6 to 10 has been sourced from CBSE Schools for English, Hindi, Maths, Science, and Social Science subjects on the DIKSHA platform as per the table of contents in NCERT textbooks. Along similar lines, the second phase of Vidya Daan has been launched by CBSE to help students understand and apply their knowledge of the concepts and topics to life experiences better as well as to help teachers prepare better and teach better through activity and experiential-based teaching and learning.

Where can Students and Teachers Access the E-Content Available on the CBSE Vidya Daan Portal?

Interested students and teachers can visit www.diksha.gov.in/cbse to view, access and play content for their respective grades and subject or download DIKSHA App from the playstore.

How Schools and Teachers can Contribute to the Vidya Daan 2.0 Initiative?

Interested schools and teachers can contribute to the Vidya Daan 2.0 initiative by submitting e-content for grades 1 to 12 before 23 December 2019 in the following formats:

  • Video formats supported on the platform are MP4 and WebM
  • Document formats supported on the platform are PDF and EPub
  • PDF content must be in noto-sans fonts (of different languages)

Benefits of Contributing to CBSE Vidya Daan 2.0

CBSE says that they will recognize the effort of schools and teachers contributing to Vidya Daan in the following manner:

  • Certificate to all participating schools
  • Award to school(s) for maximum contribution
  • Certificate to the individual teacher(s) for a significant contribution of content

Teachers contributing a significant number of content pieces will get weightage that will be considered for national awards such as CBSE teacher awards. More information on the initiative can be found in the detailed notification. CBSE has also reached out to prestigious institutions such as IITs, IIMs and IISERs to support the Vidyadaan initiative.
