CBSE and Facebook India have collaborated to offer free online training on augmented reality, and digital safety and online well being for teachers and students, respectively. “To further their commitment towards digital inclusion and digital empowerment, CBSE and Facebook have partnered to launch curriculum and related training in Augmented Reality, Digital Safety & Online Well-Being and introduce Instagram Toolkit for Teens. This partnership is led by Facebook for Education, a global initiative by Facebook to build diverse learning communities and bring the world closer together,” said a statement from the companies.

The course was introduced by Dr Ramesh P Nishank, Union HRD Minister saying: “I appreciate the initiative launched by CBSE India and Facebook India to introduce training programs in Augmented Reality for teachers and Digital Safety for students. I encourage teachers and students to join these programs.”

CBSE and Facebook issued a statement saying that teachers are being offered training since augmented reality is a technology that is in demand and will be utilized by all industries in the days to come. Furthermore, with growing internet usage students are being exposed to online bullying, misinformation, fake news, internet addictions, and so on. Therefore, students are being offered free training on Digital Safety and Well being.

Teachers can take the three week long augmented reality training by registering on the official website from 6 to 20 July 2020. Students can take the Digital Safety and Well being course by registering on the same dates on the official website. The training is currently being offered to 10,000 students and teachers.

Requirement to Take CBSE and Facebook’s Free Online Training in Augmented Reality

  • Access to a computer system/ laptop with Windows 10 and above installed.
  • Facebook developer account (Footnote: How to create a developer account).
  • Access to smartphone.
  • Access to internet.

CBSE says that in the second phase, 30,000 students in each category will be offered online training in augmented reality and digital safety and well-being. Those who wish to know more about the courses are advised to go through the official website in detail.
