CBSE Board Exam 2021

CBSE class 9 and 11 exams are all set to be held offline at several schools across the country. While a section of students and parents have been requesting for the conduct of examinations online due to the ongoing COVID-19 and risk of infection, several schools have reportedly already asked their students to give their examinations offline. Schools have also re-opened for students of classes 9 and 11 in various Indian cities.

“We will be conducting examinations for students of class 9 and 11 offline. Online exams at such a large scale are not possible. Only a section of students and parents are opposing offline exams. Rest are happy coming to school, and are also willing to take offline exams,” said a teacher from a government high school in Delhi on the condition of anonymity. The same development has been confirmed by several students across various schools on the CBSE class 9 and 11 exams.

“My school has announced that the finals will be held in offline mode only. Even the date sheet is also out. I request the board to at least give students a choice how they prefer to give exam, online or offline,” said Shreeya Mohakud to Dataquest.

“I am A Ashitha, and I am studying in 9th standard in Koyilandy, Kerala. My school decided to conduct final exam from 22 February till 3 March. And it is risk for all of us to go to school and I plead the government to take strict decision to conduct exam online,” said the student to Dataquest. Similarly, “I am studying in class 11th in CBSE board and I also want to attend online exam but my school is going to conduct offline exam. So I request government of India to give a guideline to conduct online exam. Thank you,” said Shaurya Vardhan Singh.

However, chances of conducting CBSE class 9 and 11 exams online seem unlikely at the moment. “Holding online examinations on such a large scale is impractical. How can invigilation be done? How can choice be given between offline and online? It has to be uniform for all students,” said the government school teacher.

In the meanwhile, CBSE class 9 and 11 students have returned to school after ten months of taking online classes in New Delhi. “Today, children of classes 9 and 11 have also returned to schools. Normalcy has returned to life. We cannot wait for 'The Zero Corona Case Day' to get life back on track. We have to bring back the light of life carefully but only in the midst of the challenge of Corona, and it is happening,” said Manish Sisodia.
