CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2021: Media Reports Speculative and Baseless, says Education Ministry

CBSE class 12 board exams 2021 have grabbed national headlines. Every day, there are innumerable reports on the way examinations could be conducted and about the possible CBSE Class 12th timetable. The Ministry of Education has clarified that all such reports are baseless and speculative. The official PIB handle of the Ministry of Education has endorsed a tweet by Maushumi, a civil servant, that says “This is totally incorrect and absolutely baseless - such irresponsible reportage creates unnecessary panic amongst students and parents.”

The tweet was in reference to a report that said CBSE class 12th timetable could be announced on 1 June 2021. As of now, no decision has been taken on the CBSE class 12 board exams 2021, and the Government of India has asked states to submit reports and suggestions on the conduct of examinations. The states are divided on the matter, and a consensus is yet to be reached.

The Official Word on CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2021

The official statement released by the Government of India on the CBSE class 12 board exams 2021, after holding a high level meeting with stakeholders on 23 May 2021 is that a decision would be taken after States and Union Territories send their suggestions by 25 May 2021. The Ministry of Education also says that there was a “broad” consensus in the meeting with regard to CBSE class 12 board exams 2021.

“The discussions were held around two themes, which is board exams to be conducted for Class XII by the Central Board of Secondary Education and other State Boards and the All-India Entrance examinations for various higher education institutions and professional courses. Various options regarding the methodology, process, duration and timings of the exams were discussed. While a broad consensus was there, however, it was decided that States and UTs may like to further examine the matter and send their feedback in writing by 25 May 2021. There have been no other official statements on the matter about the CBSE class 12 board exams 2021.
