Cancel CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2021 Say Students, Here’s Why

Students have been hoping that the authorities cancel examinations, and use an evaluation method that is being applied for CBSE class 10 for the following reasons:

  • Online classes have been taken for class 12 students throughout the year, which is not sufficient for them to give offline examinations.
  • Students have been under a lot of pressure due to the COVID-19 situation in the country. Several students and family members have been infected, and have even lost their loved ones to the pandemic.
  • Conducting CBSE class 12 board exams 2021 offline can lead to the third wave, which has been predicted to affect children.
  • Uncertainty over conducting examinations is causing them undue stress and anxiety.
  • Entrance examinations will be conducted for admission into higher institutes, hence students may be promoted without any inhibitions.

Online Examinations May Be Possible for CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2021

While online examinations are a better option than postponing or cancelling exams, it may not be possible for the Indian Government to implement the same in such short notice. “A large section of the education sector in India is resistant to changes. A majority of the stakeholders believe that online examination can easily be compromised, giving ways to cheating and lesser control shown by the students. However, one of the biggest challenges that the sector faces today is the inadequate infrastructure required to conduct online examinations seamlessly,” said Sanjay Padode, president, Vijaybhoomi University and chairman, Center for Development and Education in a conversation with Dataquest.

“International boards have already cancelled exams and have adopted alternative assessment. Online exam is not possible for everyone, and especially for board students. CBSE has also cancelled for 10th board and have come up with a formula for assessment,” says Advocate Anubha Shrivastava Sahai, President, India Wide Parents Association. She further added on her official Twitter handle that: “12th Board Students, your matter is in supreme court now so it will take time for final decision. If the government takes a decision to cancel then they will convey the same to the supreme court and accordingly, the matter will be decided. It may take time.”
